Matt Araiza
Matthew Ryan Araiza (born May 16, 2000) is an American American football, football Punter (football), punter who is a free agent. He played college football for the San Diego State Aztecs football, San Diego State Aztecs, setting the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) season record for average punt yardage as a junior. Araiza entered the National Football League (NFL) as a sixth-round selection by the Buffalo Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he was released prior to the 2022 season after being accused of gang rape. Early life and high school Araiza grew up in San Diego, California, and attended Rancho Bernardo High School, where he played football, soccer, and was a hurdler on the track and field team. He made 37 field goals and was a two-time All-America selection as a placekicker. A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football. Hurdler
Hurdling is the act of jumping over an obstacle at a high speed or in a sprint. In the early 19th century, hurdlers ran at and jumped over each hurdle (sometimes known as 'burgles'), landing on both feet and checking their forward motion. 2021 San Diego State Aztecs Football Team
The 2021 San Diego State Aztecs football team represented San Diego State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Aztecs were led by head coach Brady Hoke in the second season of his second stint as head coach and played their home games at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. In gridiron football, a punt is a kick performed by dropping the ball from the hands and then kicking the ball before it hits the ground. 2020 San Diego State Aztecs Football Team
The 2020 San Diego State Aztecs football team represented San Diego State University in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. On August 10, 2020, the Mountain West Conference suspended all fall sports competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university.
