Mats Björke
Mats Anders Björke (born 10 June 1982 in Falun, Sweden) is a Swedish musician (keyboard) and producer. From 2004 to 2014, he was a member of the Swedish band Mando Diao. Biography Mats Anders Björke was born on June 10, 1982, in Falun (Sweden). In 2002 he moved to Stockholm due to music studies; at the same time he worked and played in bands. In spring 2003 Mats ended his music studies with no intention of continuing at another public institution. When he heard that Mando Diao were looking for a new keyboarder after the break-up with Daniel Haglund, he immediately applied for the job. Two months later he was accepted. According to Gustaf Norén it was silly that he didn't think of him in the first place, as they had grown up together in the same street, and had even been schoolmates. Falun
Falun () is a city and the seat of Falun Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 37,291 inhabitants in 2010. It is also the capital of Dalarna County. Falun forms, together with Borlänge, a metropolitan area with just over 100,000 inhabitants. Falun was originally famous for its copper mine, and is today an important service and industrial city even though the mine is closed (since 1992). Faluån is a river, flowing through the city, separating it into two sides. Falu copper mine is located on one of the sides which during many centuries was one of Sweden's main business. This side of the river was usually called "the mining side", where not many plants grew due to the toxic smoke which contaminated the soil. Mando Diao
Mando Diao is an alternative rock band from Borlänge, Sweden. The band got their breakthrough with the release of the album ''Hurricane Bar''. Their main fan base is in Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Japan. Band members are Björn Dixgård (vocals, guitar), Carl-Johan Fogelklou (bass), Jens Siverstedt (guitar), Daniel Haglund (keyboard) and Patrik Heinkipieti (drums). History Early years (1999–2002) The roots of Mando Diao date back to 1999 when Björn Dixgård (vocals, guitar) and Daniel Haglund (keyboard) played in a band called Butler, which they had founded in the middle of the 1990s. ''Bring 'Em In'' is the debut album of the Swedish band Mando Diao, released 2002 in Sweden. In 2003 the album was released as both a CD and an LP internationally, and was well received by critics. The Japan release of the album adds three bonus tracks, shuffled amongst the original track listing. In 2005, a limited edition of the album was released, adding a second disc of B-sides and demos. Singles and EP releases The album spawned several singles in Sweden, "Motown Blood", " Mr Moon", " The Band", "Sheepdog" and "Paralyzed." Never Seen The Light Of Day
Never Seen the Light of Day is the fourth studio album by Swedish band Mando Diao. The album was produced by Björn Olsson and engineered by Patrik Heikinpieti. It was recorded in 2007 while the band were on an exhaustive tour of the world. Frontman Björn Dixgård stated in a recent interview that the band was dissatisfied with their management and tired of the tediousness of the studios so they recorded the album independently in a small studio with producer Björn Olsson. The album was titled 'Never Seen The Light Of Day' because the band believed that the album might not be released, and thus would not see the light of day. The album was preceded by a single, '' If I Don't Live Today, I Might Be Here Tomorrow'', all around the world on 24 September 2007. The songs are said to be calmer and more sensitive than the band's usual style. A limited edition of the album was released (on the same day as the regular edition) in a special digipak. Give Me Fire!
''Give Me Fire!'' is the fifth studio album by Swedish band Mando Diao, produced by Salla Salazar of hip hop group The Latin Kings and his brother Masse. The album was released in Sweden on 13 February 2009. One of Mando Diao's roadies knew the hip hop producing brothers and introduced Gustaf Norén to them. Norén says he originally approached The Salazar Brothers as he is a massive Latin Kings fan and wanted to get an autograph, but the visit ended with a recorded song. After sitting on the song for a while he played it for the other members of the band and they decided to record more tracks with Salle & Masse. Björn Dixgård says that the band has been inspired by movies and television with this album and cites Quentin Tarantino and ''Twin Peaks''. He also says that the producers' record collection has been a source of inspiration as well. This album is a danceable album with a strong focus on drums, bass and percussion.
