Matero Magic
The Matero Magic are a Zambian semi-professional basketball club from the Matero neighbourhood of Lusaka. The team plays in the Zambia Basketball League and has won the championship a record 10 times. The Magic features many players who are also part of the Zambia national team. Zambia Basketball League
The Zambia Basketball League is the first tier basketball league of Zambia. The league currently consists of 10 teams. It is organised by the Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA). In the past, the league was sponsored by Sprite and was named the Sprite ZBA. The champions of the league are able to play in the qualifying rounds of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Matero, Lusaka
Matero is a township in the north-western part of the city of Lusaka in Zambia. Location The neighborhood is bordered to the northeast by the T2 road ( Great North Road), that stretches between Kabwe to the north, through Lusaka to Kafue to the south. To the southeast, the border is Lumumba Road. Umuzilikazi Road marks the neighborhood's southern border. The western border is the river that starts near the southern end of Chitanda Road and flows northwestwards until it crosses the same street near the Chitanda Sewerage pond. The northern border of Matero stretches from the Chitanda pond to the west, through Chitanda Cemetery, to end at the T2 highway, immediately north of National Heroes Stadium. Liz Mills is an Australian basketball coach who has coached elite level men's club, national university and national men's basketball teams in Africa since 2011, Mills is currently the head coach of ABC Fighters of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). She is the first female basketball head coach to lead a men's national team at a FIBA continental championship, as well as the first-ever female head coach in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) after debuting in 2022.
