Mate (2019 Film)
''Mate'' () is a South Korean film released on January 17, 2019. The drama/romance film stars Shim Hee-sub, Jung Hye-sung, and Kil Hae-yeon, and it is both directed and written by Jung Dae-gun. Although the film only drew in 1,392 box office admissions during its opening week, it was one of the ten films selected as finalists to participate in the 19th Jeonju International Film Festival 2018. Plot Joon-ho (Shim Hee-Sub) first met Eun-ji (Jung Hye-sung) through a dating application and spent a night together. They later had another encounter when Joon-ho applies for a part-time photographing job at a magazine. The two developed feelings for each other, but they remained in an open relationship between friends and lovers. The term “mates” was coined because of their avoidance of commitment in the relationship. Jung Hye-sung (born Jung Eun-joo on April 29, 1991) is a South Korean actress and model. Career Jung began her acting career in ''To the Beautiful You'' (2012) and gained recognition through supporting roles in ''Love in the Moonlight'' (2016) and ''Good Manager ''Good Manager'' () is a South Korean television drama starring Namkoong Min, Nam Sang-mi, Lee Jun-ho, and Jung Hye-sung. Jeonju International Film Festival
Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF, Korean: 전주국제영화제, Hanja: 全州國際映畵祭) is an Asian film festival. It was launched in 2000 as a non-competitive film festival with partial competition. It introduces independent and experimental films to focus on the alternative course of contemporary film art. In the first edition of JIFF, debut films of Darren Aronofsky were introduced to South Korea. For the first time in Asia, Jiff highlighted early works of Béla Tarr as well. The winners of Jeonju IFF's ''International Competition Section'' include Ying Liang, John Akomfrah and Miike Takashi. Another point of Jeonju is that it produces movies as well.
