Massoud Behnoud
Masoud Behnoud ( fa, مسعود بهنود; born in Tehran) is an Iranian journalist, He began his career as a journalist in 1964. Since then he has worked as an investigating journalist for different newspapers. Behnoud lives in the United Kingdom and works as a journalist for a number of media organisations, mainly BBC Persian Service, for which he has worked for the past fourteen years. His debut in the West was the launch of ‘Khanoum’, by Pegasus Elliott McKenzie in November 2008. Biography Behnoud started his career as a journalist in 1964 and was active in the trade union of the Iranian journalists. During his career Behnoud produced and presented programmes for the National Iranian Radio and Television, and he founded a number of newspapers and magazines many of which were banned with the advent of 1979 Islamic revolution of Iran, with the editor and senior members of staff being arrested. BBC Persian ( fa, بیبیسی فارسی) is the Persian language broadcast station and subsidiary of BBC World Service which conveys the latest political, social, economical and sport news relevant to Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, and the world. PEN International (known as International PEN until 2010) is a worldwide association of writers, founded in London in 1921 to promote friendship and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere. IFEX, formerly International Freedom of Expression Exchange, is a global network of 124 independent non-governmental organisations that work at a local, national, regional, or international level to defend and promote freedom of expression as a human right. History IFEX was first proposed in 1992 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, by a group of 12 non-governmental organisations who met to discuss how they could collaborate on responding to free expression violations around the world. The meeting was organised by the Canadian Committee to Protect Journalists (now Canadian Journalists for Free Expression). Over the next four years, IFEX consolidated its structure, built outreach programs, and established a web presence. Alireza Nourizadeh
Ali Reza Nourizadeh ( fa, علیرضا نوریزاده, born 24 June 1949 in Tehran) is an Iranian scholar, literary figure, journalist, political activist and an expert on Iranian contemporary history. Career Nourizadeh is a political refugee from Iran. After fleeing to the United Kingdom, he obtained his PhD from the University of London in International Relations. He is a monarchist. Nourizadeh himself has been active in the Iranian journalistic milieu since 1967. Before Iranian Revolution, he was editor of ''Ettela'at'', a strongly pro-Shah Iranian newspaper. After Ali-Reza Pahlavi, youngest son of the Shah, killed himself in 2011 in Boston, Nourizadeh called it "a tragedy for the Iranian people". Ahmad Zeidabadi
Ahmad Zeidabadi fa, احمد زیدابادی (born 21 July 1965 in Zeidabad, Sirjan) is an Iranian journalist, academic, writer and political analyst and the secretary general of Office for Strengthening Unity. He is one of the notable figures of the Iranian reform movement. Zeidabadi has been arrested multiple times for his journalistic work. In June 2009, shortly after the Iranian presidential election, Zeidabadi was arrested and held in conditions which the World Association of Newspapers called "horrific." In December 2009, Zeidabadi was sentenced to six years in prison. Zeidabadi is the winner of the World Association of Newspapers' Golden Pen of Freedom Award for 2010. Mehdi Jami
Mehdi Jami (born February 1961 in Mashhad) is an Iranian journalist. Jami holds a master's degree in Persian language and literature from Ferdowsi University (1992). He is also a self taught photographer and filmmaker. His research interests include Iranian Studies (his book on Iranian Ancient Literary History published in Tehran, 2000) and Islamic History (he has written for Islamica Encyclopedia, Leiden 2008) and also Persian culture in Central Asia (Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). His documentary film on Tajik music Falak was released in 2005. Jami is a member of Artists Without Frontiers. From June 2006 to October 2008, he was the director of the Amsterdam-based Persian-language Radio Zamaneh which has been the first Persian media outlet based on the idea of Citizen Journalism.
