Massadona is an unincorporated community in Moffat County, in the U.S. state of Colorado. History Massadona was founded sometime prior to 1907, and was known as Boxelder. Although the origin of the name Massadona is unknown, it is possible that the original name of Boxelder came from a local creek, which is called Box Elder Creek. Moffat County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,292. The county seat is Craig. With an area of 4,751 square miles, it is the 2nd largest county by area in Colorado, behind Las Animas County. Dinosaur is a statutory town in Moffat County, Colorado, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 243, down from 339 at the 2010 census. Dinosaur is a part of the Craig, CO Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Dinosaur was originally known as "Baxter Springs", owned by Art and Fanny Baxter. It was renamed "Artesia" for its valued water supply when a town was platted to accommodate the oil boom in the 1940s. The current name was adopted in 1966, to capitalize on the town's proximity to Dinosaur National Monument.
