María Luisa Aguilar
María Luisa Aguilar Hurtado (20 June 1938 - 29 October 2015), was the first professional astronomer of Peru. She studied at the Institute of Mathematics and Physics of the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru. She graduated as an astronomer from the National University of La Plata, Argentina. In 1981, motivated to develop astronomy at a professional level, she founded and served as director of the "Astronomy and Astrophysics Seminar", nowadays called "Permanent Astronomy and Space Sciences Seminar" of the National University of San Marcos. GalileoMobile is a non-profitscience education organization that brings astronomy closer to young people worldwide. The GalileoMobile emphasis is on regions with little or no access to knowledge about astronomy. Created in late 2008 on an inspiration from the 2009 International Year of Astronomy, GalileoMobile is run by a group of astronomers, educators, and science communicators. The International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009) was a year-long celebration of astronomy that took place in 2009 to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with a telescope by Galileo Galilei and the publication of Johannes Kepler's '' Astronomia nova'' in the 17th century. The Year was declared by the 62nd General Assembly of the United Nations. A global scheme, laid out by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), was also endorsed by UNESCO, the UN body responsible for educational, scientific, and cultural matters. Jorge Sahade
Jorge Sahade (born February 17, 1915, in Cordoba, Argentina, died December 18, 2012) was an Argentine astronomer with more than 200 publications in journals and conferences. His mother gave birth on February 17, but having been born very little, it was thought that he would not survive, so he was officially entered late on February 23. Career He was born in Cordoba into a family of Syrian origin. In Cordoba, Sahade wished to study mathematics, but at that time, there were only university degrees in engineering and surveying. Sahade chose to study the latter at the National University of Córdoba, where he received his degree in 1937.
