María Antonieta Pons
Maria Antonieta Pons (November 6, 1922 in Havana, Cuba – August 20, 2004 in Mexico City) was a Cuban-born Mexican film actress and dancer. She was the first actress in the ''Rumberas films'' in the 1940s and 1950s, in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Career María Antonieta Pons began her career as a dancer in Cuba in numerous theaters and night clubs. When she was 16, she met Spanish actor and film director Juan Orol, who became her partner in various dance competitions on the island. After becoming Orol's wife, he took her to Mexico so she could act in films. María Antonieta Pons debuted in the Cinema of Mexico in the film '' Siboney'' (1938). After her debut in this film, Maria Antonieta performed with Orol in international dance tours in the United States, particularly in New York and Chicago. Carlos Cores (April 19, 1923 – February 8, 2000) was an Argentine film actor, and film director. Cores entered films in 1939 and starred in over 60 films between then and his retirement in the early 1980s. In 1968 he directed, acted and wrote ''Asalto a la Ciudad''. He died in 2000, aged 76, in San Fernando, Buenos Aires. Prudencia Grifell
Prudencia María Victoria Grifell Masip (27 December 1879 – 7 June 1970) was a Spanish-Mexican actress and comedian. Biography Early life Grifell was born to Spanish stage actors and started her acting career herself at the age of ten in theater in Venezuela and touring Spain and Latin America. By the 1900s she had become very popular and moved to Mexico to continue her career in stage, after the Spanish Civil War she decided not to go back to that country but instead to relocate in Mexico permanently after 1940. Career Three years later, already at the age of 61, she appeared in her first film ''Internado para señoritas'' ("Girls Boarding School") with the stars Mapy Cortés, Emilio Tuero and Katy Jurado. Benito Antonio Fernández Ortiz (13 February 1901 – 4 August 1982), better known as Ñico Saquito, was a Cuban trova songwriter, guitarist and singer. He is widely considered the most prolific and successful composer of guarachas, most of which he wrote during his stint as a member of Los Guaracheros de Oriente. Among his most enduring compositions are "Cuidadito compay gallo", "María Cristina", "Adiós compay gato", "Al vaivén de mi carreta", "Camina como Chencha" and "Amarrao compé".
