Maryland Route 84
Maryland Route 84 (MD 84) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs from MD 75 near New Windsor north to MD 832 near Frizzelburg. MD 84 provides access to Uniontown and forms part of the connection between New Windsor and Taneytown in western Carroll County. The state highway was constructed from New Windsor to Uniontown in the mid-1920s. The northernmost portion of the highway was constructed in the late 1930s as MD 630, which became a disjoint part of MD 84 in 1951. The gap in MD 84 north of Uniontown was filled in 1956. Route description MD 84 begins at an intersection with MD 75 (Green Valley Road) just north of Little Pipe Creek north of the town of New Windsor. The state highway heads northwest as two-lane undivided Clear Ridge Road. At Clear Ridge Road South, which is unsigned MD 800B and heads southwest, MD 84 turns north through farmland and crosses Roop Branch. Trevanion
Trevanion is a historic home located at Uniontown, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Trevanion is a -story brick dwelling with an asymmetrical central hall plan with a tower. The original 1817 house was converted in 1855 to the "villa style" then popular in America, incorporating a combination of Italianate and Gothic architecture elements. Reflecting this is a brick tower and an adjoining gable end projection. In 1857, a -story wing was added. "Trevanion" is a family name and a term meaning "the meeting of streams" in Welsh. Westminster, Maryland
Westminster is a city in northern Maryland, United States. It is the seat of Carroll County. The city's population was 18,590 at the 2010 census. Westminster is an outlying community within the Baltimore-Towson, MD MSA, which is part of a greater Washington-Baltimore-Northern Virginia, DC-MD-VA-WV CSA. History William Winchester (1706-1790) purchased approximately 167 acres of land called White's Level in 1754 which became known as the city of Winchester. The Maryland General Assembly later changed the name of the town to Westminster to avoid confusion with Winchester, the seat of nearby Frederick County, Virginia. Rockland Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. The complex consists of a brick house, the stone foundation of an 18th-century springhouse, as well as a large frame barn and a corn crib, both dating to the late 19th century. The house, built in 1795, retains the Pennsylvania German traditional three-room plan with a central chimney. It is a two-story, three-bay by two-bay brick structure on a stone foundation built into a slope. The Englar-Schweigart-Rinehart Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It consists of a brick house, a brick smokehouse, a stone springhouse, a frame bank barn, and a frame poultry house. The house is a two-story, five-by-two-bay Flemish bond brick structure painted white, and set on a rubble stone foundation. The house was constructed in 1809 or 1810. The farm is significant for its illustration of how German-Swiss immigrants to Maryland became acculturated to the dominant English culture. The Robert and Phyllis Scott House is a historic home located at Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is situated atop a ridge on a heavily wooded lot and is a two-story, "butterfly roof", five- bay by two-bay rectangular International Style building set on piers, with several rooms on grade in the center of the house. The house was constructed in 1953–54 to the design of architect Henry Hebbeln of New York. Maryland Route 800 (MD 800) is a collection of state highways in the U.S. state of Maryland. The longest section of MD 800, officially MD 800D and known as Watson Lane, is signed and runs between two intersections with Maryland Route 75, MD 75 near the unincorporated area, unincorporated village of Linwood, Carroll County, Maryland, Linwood in western Carroll County, Maryland, Carroll County. The multiple segments of MD 800 are sections of old alignment of MD 75 between Union Bridge, Maryland, Union Bridge and New Windsor, Maryland, New Windsor.
