Maryland Route 445
Maryland Route 445 (MD 445) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs from Eastern Neck Island in the southwest corner of Kent County north to MD 21 near Tolchester Beach. MD 445 connects Tolchester Beach and Eastern Neck Island with Rock Hall, where the highway intersects MD 20. The first piece of MD 445 was constructed as part of MD 20 around 1920. The remainder of the highway was built around 1930. MD 445 was reconstructed in the mid-1960s and early to mid-1970s. Route description MD 445 begins as Eastern Neck Road at the north end of the bridge that connects the mainland with Eastern Neck Island, an island on the north side of the mouth of the Chester River that comprises the southernmost land in Kent County. Maryland Route 20
Maryland Route 20 (MD 20) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs from Beach Road and Lawton Avenue in Rock Hall east to MD 291 in Chestertown. MD 20 connects Chestertown with several villages in western Kent County, including Fairlee. The highway was designated one of the original state roads to be improved by the Maryland State Roads Commission in 1909 and was built between the mid-1910s and early 1920s. MD 20 was widened in the late 1940s and received bypasses of Fairlee and in Rock Hall in the mid-1950s and late 1950s, respectively. The highway was removed from the center of Chestertown in the mid-1980s. Trumpington is a historic home located at Rock Hall, Kent County, Maryland. Its Georgian plan main house is of Flemish bond brick construction five bays long, two rooms deep, and two and a half stories high. A -story brick wing is attached.
