Mary Joe Fernández Godsick (born María José Fernández; August 19, 1971) is an American former professional tennis player, who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in both singles and doubles. In singles, Fernández was the runner-up at the 1990 Australian Open – Women's singles, 1990 and 1992 Australian Open – Women's singles, 1992 Australian Open, and the 1993 French Open – Women's singles, 1993 French Open. 1989 French Open – Women's Singles
Arantxa Sánchez Vicario defeated the two-time defending champion Steffi Graf in the final, 7–6(8–6), 3–6, 7–5 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1989 French Open. This ended Graf's winning streak of major singles titles at five. Graf served for the championship at 5–3 in the third set, but lost the game to love and won only three more points in the match from that point. Sánchez Vicario was just 17 years old at the time, and it was the first of her three French Open titles (followed by 1994 and 1998). Helen Elizabeth "Betsy" Nagelsen McCormack (born October 23, 1956) is an American former professional tennis player. Career Nagelsen was the world's top junior in 1973. She won the 1973 U.S. Champion Girls' 16 and under singles. She also won the USTA Girls' Sportsmanship Award in 1974. As a professional, she won the doubles championship at the 1978 and 1980 Australian Opens (with Renáta Tomanová and Martina Navratilova, respectively), and reached the singles final of the 1978 Australian Open, losing to Christine O'Neil. Sara Louise Gomer (born 13 May 1964) is a retired tennis player from Great Britain. A left-hander, she competed for Britain at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul and the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
