Mary Homer
Mary Elizabeth Homer (born 7 September 1958) is a British businesswoman. She helped in expanding the Topshop globally before leaving for The White Company in July 2017. Career Topshop Homer was born in south-west Essex. She joined Topshop in 1985. Jane Shepherdson left as the managing director of Topshop In 2007. Homer (the commercial director) and Karyn Fenn (the buying director) took over the running of the stores as joint managing directors. Later in 2007, Karyn Fenn left Topshop and Homer became managing director. Homer went on to become the Chief Executive Officer at The White Company with plans to focus on international expansion. Homer is in charge of homewares and fashion at The White Company. From 2008 to 2010 she was on the board of the British Fashion Council. The White Company is a retailer of bedroom, home, clothing, and fragrance goods, whose head office is located at London's Television Centre. It was founded by Chrissie Rucker in 1994. Mary Homer left Topshop in March 2017 to head the company. History The White Company was established in 1994 as a mail order business selling items through a 12-page catalogue which has grown into a multi-channel, international business. Started up with a small government grant and £6,000 inheritance, it originally had a 500 people mailing list. Chrissie Rucker managed to gather some editorial coverage and press releases which led to it making £80,000 in the first year, just breaking even. The White Company
''The White Company'' is a historical adventure by British writer Arthur Conan Doyle, set during the Hundred Years' War. The story is set in England, France and Spain, in the years 1366 and 1367, against the background of the campaign of Edward the Black Prince, to restore Peter of Castile to the throne of the Kingdom of Castile. The climax of the book occurs before the Battle of Nájera. Doyle became inspired to write the novel after attending a lecture on the Middle Ages in 1889. After extensive research, ''The White Company'' was published in serialised form in 1891 in ''The Cornhill Magazine''. Jane Elizabeth Shepherdson CBE (born 23 August 1961 in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire) is an English businesswoman. she was the chief executive of UK clothing brand Whistles, and had been the brand director for high-street women's wear store TopShop. She grew up in Bristol where her father was head of the mathematics department at the university, and her mother was a biochemist. She was educated at Clifton High School, where she began customising her clothes.
