Mary Ann Hanusa
Mary Ann Hanusa (born May 26, 1963) is an American politician who served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2011 to 2021. Early life and education Hanusa was born, raised, and resides in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Concordia Teachers College and an Master of Arts in American history from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Career Before election to the Iowa House, she served on the staff of Senator Charles Grassley before becoming director of the White House Office of Presidential Correspondence under George W. Bush, serving from 2001 to 2006. She was the Republican candidate for Iowa Secretary of State in 2006, replacing previous nominee Chuck Allison, who dropped out of the race after the primary. Iowa House Of Representatives
The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Unlike the upper house, the Iowa Senate, state House representatives serve two-year terms with the whole chamber up for re-election in even-numbered years. There are no term limits for the House. Rob Sand
Robert Sand (born August 12, 1982) is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the 33rd Iowa State Auditor since 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Sand was assistant attorney general of Iowa from 2010 to 2017. In 2018, he ran for state auditor, defeating Republican incumbent Mary Mosiman. After considering a run for governor of Iowa in 2022, Sand opted to run for reelection. Sand was reelected in 2022, becoming the only statewide elected Democrat in Iowa. Early life Sand is from Decorah, Iowa. His mother, Leslie, worked as a physical therapist while his father, Kevin, was a doctor.
