Martynas Gecevičius
Martynas "Marty" Gecevičius (born May 16, 1988) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Juventus Utena of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). Standing at , he primarily plays at the shooting guard position. Professional career Gecevičius debuted in the EuroLeague during the 2007–08 season, averaging 3.2 points per game, which he increased to 14.2 points per game in the 2009–10 season, making him a desirable player in the 2010 summer transfer market. His Euroleague career high is 21 points, scored against Efes. During the 2010–11 season, he averaged 11.5 points per game in the LKL, and 9.3 points per game in the Baltic Basketball League. After signing with Olympiacos, Gecevičius won the EuroLeague 2011–12 season championship, and the 2011–12 Greek League championship. Lithuania Men's National Basketball Team
The Lithuania men's national basketball team ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinė vyrų krepšinio rinktinė) represents Lithuania in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Lithuania. Despite Lithuania's small size, with a population of less than 3 million, the country's devotion to basketball has made them a traditional force of the sport in Europe. The Lithuanian national team won the last EuroBasket tournaments prior to World War II, in 1937 and 1939. The 1939 team was led by Frank Lubin, who helped popularize basketball in the country and was called the "grandfather of Lithuanian basketball". The 2011–12 Turkish Airlines Euroleague was the 12th season of the modern era of Euroleague and the second under the title sponsorship of Turkish Airlines. Including the competition's previous incarnation as the FIBA Europe Champions Cup, this was the 55th season of the premier competition for European men's clubs. The 2016–17 ACB season, also known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, was the 34th season of the Spanish basketball league. It started on 30 September 2016 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 16 June 2017 with the ACB Finals. Real Madrid was the defending champion, but lost the title to Valencia Basket in the finals, which won its first league ever. Liga ACB
The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administrated by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the LEB Oro and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. The 2014–15 Lietuvos krepšinio lyga was the 22nd season of the top-tier level professional basketball league of Lithuania, the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL). The season started in October 2014, and finished in June 2015. Žalgiris won its 17th title, the fifth in a row. Competition format Regular season During the regular season, all teams played 40 games. Greek Basket League
The Greek Basket League (GBL), often also referred to as the Greek A1 Basketball League, or Greek Basketball Championship (originally called Panhellenic Basketball Championship), and also known as the Stoiximan Basket League for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. LKL All-Star Game
The LKL All-Star Game is the All-Star Game of the professional Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). The game is held once every year. The participants of the game are chosen in two ways: the first is via fan ballot, with the leading vote recipients at each position starting the game; secondly the reserves are chosen by a vote among the head coaches of each squad. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players. If a player is injured, and cannot participate, the league's commissioner will select a replacement. Features The All-Star Game is played under normal FIBA rules, but there are notable differences from an average game. The player introductions are usually accompanied by a significant amount of fanfare, including lighting effects, dance music, and pyrotechnics. LKF Cup
The LKF Cup was an annual national domestic cup competition for Lithuanian professional basketball teams. It was organised by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija - LKF). The competition's full name was Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija Taurė (English: Lithuanian Basketball Federation Cup). Before 2007, the LKF Cup wasn't held regularly, but after that, its finals were organised every January, February, or March. Between 2007 and 2014, the competition was played between teams from the LKL, the NKL, and the RKL. In 2015, the LKF decided to change the competition format, and it was then played between the top eight qualified teams of the LKL, after the first half of the season. The Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) Finals is the championship finals series for the top-tier level professional club basketball league in Lithuania, the LKL, and the conclusion of the league's postseason. The Finals have been played in either a best-of-seven, or a best-of five format. The first LKL Finals series was held in 1994, and was contested by Žalgiris and Atletas, with Žalgiris winning the series 3–1. Žalgiris Kaunas has been the most successful team, having won 22 out of the 27 LKL Finals series that have been played so far. Lietuvos rytas Vilnius is the only other team to win the LKL Finals.
