Marty Knollenberg
Martin "Marty" Knollenberg (born September 21, 1963) is a Republican politician from the U.S. state of Michigan who previously served in the Michigan Senate from the 13th district. He was a member of the Michigan State House of Representatives, representing the 41st District which covers the cities of Troy and Clawson in Oakland County. He is the son of former U.S. Congressman Joe Knollenberg, who represented Michigan's 9th congressional district from 1993 until 2009. Knollenberg was elected to the State House in 2006 and re-elected in 2008 and 2010. He was term limited in 2012 and succeeded by Republican Martin Howrylak. He had previously served as an Oakland County Commissioner from 2002 to 2004 and Oakland County Parks and Recreation commissioner from 2004 to 2006. Michigan's 13th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 13th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Rosemary Bayer since 2023, following her victory over Republican Party (United States), Republican Jason Rhines. Michigan's 9th Congressional District
Michigan's 9th congressional district is a United States congressional district located in parts of Oakland County and Macomb County in the southeast areas of the State of Michigan. It includes the communities of Ferndale, Royal Oak, Hazel Park, St. Clair Shores, Warren, Bloomfield, and Sterling Heights. Recent election results from statewide races History Prior to 1992 the 9th congressional district did not overlap at all with the one that existed after 1992. It largely corresponded to the later Michigan's 2nd congressional district, covering most of the western shore counties starting with Muskegon and taking in a portion of Grand Traverse County. Andy Meisner
Andrew Meisner (born March 30, 1973) is a politician from Huntington Woods, Michigan. He is a former Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party member of the Michigan State House of Representatives. He served as the Oakland County, Michigan, Oakland County Treasurer from 2009 to 2021. Meisner was a candidate for Oakland County Executive in 2020, but was defeated in the August Democratic primary. Early life While in college, Meisner was an aide to Congressmen Sander Levin and David Obey. Thaddeus McCotter
Thaddeus George "Thad" McCotter (born August 22, 1965) is an American politician, radio host, and a member of the Republican Party who was the U.S. representative from from 2003 to 2012. The district at the time consisted of portions of Detroit's northwestern suburbs, such as Livonia, Westland and Novi. From July 2 to September 21, 2011, he was a candidate for the Republican nomination for president in the 2012 election. After ending his presidential campaign, McCotter decided to run again for his seat in Congress, but he failed to qualify for the 2012 Republican primary in his congressional district after most of his petition signatures were rejected as invalid. The fallout from the ensuing scandal resulted in McCotter's resignation from Congress in July 2012. Bill Ballenger (born 28 March 1941) was the editor of ''Inside Michigan Politics'' a newsletter of Michigan Politics until January 2016. He previously served as a Republican member of both the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan State Senate. In representative democracies, gerrymandering (, originally ) is the political manipulation of electoral district boundaries with the intent to create undue advantage for a party, group, or socioeconomic class within the constituency. The manipulation may involve "cracking" (diluting the voting power of the opposing party's supporters across many districts) or "packing" (concentrating the opposing party's voting power in one district to reduce their voting power in other districts).
