Clive Martland
Squadron Leader Clive Alan Martland, (born 26 August 1968) is a Royal Air Force officer who was formerly the most senior Warrant officer of the RAF. Having served for most of his career as a Physical Training Instructor, he was the Chief of the Air Staff's Warrant Officer from 2014 until 2016. He was, therefore, the most senior member of the other ranks of the RAF. Early life Martland was born in 1968. He was educated at Fulwood High School and W. R. Tuson College in Preston, Lancashire. After leaving school, he wanted to either become a Physical Education teacher at a school or a Physical Training Instructor in the military. Military career Martland joined the Royal Air Force in January 1986, aged 17. He completed basic training, and then undertook trade training at RAF Cosford to become a Physical Training Instructor. Harrison Stanford Martland
Harrison Stanford Martland (September 10, 1883 – May 1, 1954) was an American pathologist who identified radium as the cause of cancer and death among watch dial painters, and also coined the term ''punch drunk'' to describe chronic head injuries from boxing. Early life and education Martland was born in Newark, New Jersey. In 1901 he received a BS degree from Western Maryland College and in 1905 he received his MD degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Career Martland accepted the appointment of the first full-time paid pathologist at the Newark City Hospital in January 1909. When World War I broke out, Martland joined the Bellevue Hospital Unit and as a lieutenant colonel he took charge of a hospital in Vichy, France. Peter Martland (born July 1947) is a historian at Cambridge University. He is a specialist in the history of the music industry, and in British and American intelligence history. He was one of the researchers for the official history of Britain's domestic intelligence service, MI5, which was published in 2009 by Christopher Andrew as ''In defence of the realm: The authorised history of the British Security Service'' (London, 2009). Ronald Martland
Ronald Martland, (February 10, 1907 – November 20, 1997) was a Canadian lawyer and Puisne Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. He was the second Albertan appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada, taking the place of Justice Nolan, who died after only a short time on the Court. Family life and education Ronald Martland was born in Liverpool, England in 1907. His family immigrated to Canada in 1911, when he was four years old. He graduated from high school at the age of 14, but was too young to attend university, so he worked as a page in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for two years. Martland attended the University of Alberta and obtained a B.A. in 1926 and an LL.B in 1928. At law school, he led his class each year, and won the Chief Justice Harvey Gold Medal in his final year.
