Martinsried
Martinsried is one of Munich's two science suburbs. It is a section of Planegg municipality in the district of Munich in Bavaria, Germany. Martinsried is best known as the location of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology and the accompanying biotechnology campus, which actually straddles the Munich/Planegg border. The campus is adjacent to the Großhadern hospital campus, housing most of the Faculty of Medicine of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. The Faculty of Chemistry and a part of the Biology Faculty of the university also relocated to this new campus in 1999 and 2005. Munich's other "science suburb" is Garching, situated to the north on the opposite end of the U6 subway, with a large part of the Technische Universität München and several Max Planck Institutes. Munich U-Bahn
The Munich U-Bahn (german: U-Bahn München) is an electric rail rapid transit network in Munich, Germany. The system began operation in 1971, and is operated by the municipally owned Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG; Munich Transport Company). The network is integrated into the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV; Munich Transport and Tariff Association) and interconnected with the Munich S-Bahn. Max Planck Institute Of Neurobiology
The Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology was a research institute of the Max Planck Society located in Martinsried, a suburb of Munich in Germany. It existed between 1984 and 2022 and merged with the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology to the new, joint Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence in 2023. Research at the former MPI of Neurobiology centered on the basic mechanisms and functions of the developing and adult nervous system. Planegg is a municipality in the district of Munich, in Bavaria, Germany. It is located on the river Würm, 13 km west of Munich (centre). Economy Koch Media has its head office in Planegg. It also hosts many biotech-companies, like ADVA Optical Networking, GPC Biotech, MediGene and MorphoSys. The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (simply University of Munich or LMU; german: Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München) is a public research university in Munich, Germany. Großhadern (in the town district Hadern) is a district in the south-west of the Bavarian state capital Munich. Großhadern is primarily a bourgeois residential area.
