Martine Grael
Martine Soffiatti Grael (born 12 February 1991) is a Brazilian sailor in the 49er FX class. Together with Kahena Kunze she won the 49er FX class at the 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships and at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Career Martine Grael is the daughter of Olympic gold medalist in sailing Torben Grael. Her brother Marco and uncle Lars also sailed in the Olympics. She sailed with ''Team AkzoNobel'' in the 2017–18 Volvo Ocean Race. Sailing At The 2015 Pan American Games – 49er FX
The women's 49erFX competition of the sailing events at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 12 to July 18 at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.http://results.toronto2015.org/IRS/en/sailing/event-overview-women-49erfx-.htm Points were assigned based on the finishing position in each race (1 for first, 2 for second, etc.). The points were totaled from the top 15 results of the first 16 races, with lower totals being better. If a team was disqualified or did not complete the race, 7 points were assigned for that race (as there were 6 teams in this competition). The top 5 teams at that point competed in the final race, with placings counting double for final score. The team with the lowest total score won. ISAF Sailing World Championships
The Sailing World Championships (formerly ISAF Sailing World Championships) are World championships in sailing for the 10 events contested at the Summer Olympics, organized by World Sailing (formerly ISAF) and held every four years since 2003. In contrast to other years, when each class organise their World championship under supervision of World Sailing, they are the combined World championships for all the disciplines of the next Summer Olympics and serves as the major qualification event for it. Lars Grael
Lars Schmidt Grael (born February 9, 1964 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian politician and former professional sailor, having won two Olympic bronze medals (in 1988 and 1996). His brother, Torben Grael, is also a sailor. Together they won the 1983 Snipe World Championship. Lars is also ten-time Brazilian and five-time South American champion for the Tornado class, in which he also won his medals, eight years apart, in the Seoul and Atlanta Summer Olympics, alongside Clinio Freitas and Henrique Pellicano, respectively. In September 1998, he suffered a serious accident in Vitória, Espírito Santo, caused by the negligence of a boat driver that left the boat propeller uncovered, which amputated one of the athlete's legs.
