Martin Wright (born 23 June 1974 in Germany) is a British bobsledder who competed for Great Britain at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Martin Wright (born 13 July 1963) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman who played for Hertfordshire. He was born in Hemel Hempstead. Wright, who played for the team in the Minor Counties Championship between 1986 and 1997, made four List A appearances, in the NatWest Trophy competition between 1986 and 1989. Wright's highest score in the competition came in 1989, when he scored 36 runs, the highest score of anyone on the Hertfordshire team, though this was not enough to prevent an exit in the first round of the competition at the hands of Nottinghamshire. His brother, Nicholas Nicholas is a male given name and a surname. Basil Martin Wright (20 December 1912 – 4 March 2001) was a British bioengineer who invented several notable medical instruments, including the peak flow meter and syringe driver. The "alcolmeter" he developed won a Queen's Award for Industry and is the breathalyser most often used at the road-side in the United Kingdom. Early life Wright was born in Dulwich, the son of a clergyman of the Church of England, and was educated at Winchester College and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a first in physiology. He then proceeded to St Bartholomew's Hospital and qualified as a doctor in 1938. Career After his time at Bart's as a medical registrar, in 1942 Wright joined the Royal Army Medical Corps to work as a pathologist. During the Second World War he was posted to Sierra Leone, and after the war to Singapore, where he organized the reinstatement of medical laboratory services. Martin Wright (conductor)
Martin Wright was born in 1955 in Murtaugh, Idaho. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in Music Performance, following which he earned his Master of Music degree in 1981 from the University of Arizona. Wright has served as chorus master of San Diego Opera (1984–97), chief conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir (1993–2002), music director of the San Diego Master Chorale (2002–06), principal guest conductor of Lyric Opera San Diego (2000–2006) and artistic director of the chorus of The Netherlands Opera from 2006 to 2011. In 2011, Wright was chosen as chorus master of the Lyric Opera of Chicago but ill health forced him to resign that post in November 2012. Since 2015, he has been chorus master of the Berlin State Opera.
