Martin Roberts (presenter)
Martin Leyland Roberts (born 20 July 1963) is an English television presenter, property expert, investor, entrepreneur and author. He presents the BBC One property auction series '' Homes Under the Hammer'' with co-presenters Martel Maxwell (since 2016) and Dion Dublin, although his co-presenter for many years was Lucy Alexander. He also hosts the Talkradio show "Home Rule with Martin Roberts", where he chats about property. Early life and career Born in Warrington, Cheshire, Roberts was brought up in Stockton Heath, a suburb of Warrington. Roberts began his career in the late 1980s at BBC Radio Manchester. Roberts' grandfather was a well known organist at various Warrington chapels. He attended Appleton Hall Grammar School then studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Bradford 1983–86 and was a DJ on Ramair, the university's radio station. Warrington () is a town and unparished area in the borough of the same name in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, on the banks of the River Mersey. It is east of Liverpool, and west of Manchester. The population in 2019 was estimated at 165,456 for the town's urban area, and just over 210,014 for the entire borough, the latter being more than double that of 1968 when it became a new town. Warrington is the largest town in the ceremonial county of Cheshire. In 2011 the unparished area had a population of 58,871. ''Dave Gorman: Modern Life Is Goodish'' is a British comedy television show that ran for five series between 2013 and 2017. It was broadcast on Dave and presented by Dave Gorman. The series mainly consisted of Gorman presenting comedic PowerPoint presentations in which he attempts to argue that modern life is neither bad or good, but "good...ish". The series began on 17 September 2013. A fifth series began airing on 31 October 2017. Gorman announced on 18 December 2017 that the show would conclude after the final episode of series 5 aired the following night. Bath () is a city in the Bath and North East Somerset unitary area in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. At the 2021 Census, the population was 101,557. Bath is in the valley of the River Avon, west of London and southeast of Bristol. In each episode four teams of two contestants attempt to find correct but obscure answers to four rounds of general knowledge questions with the winning team eligible to compete for the show's cash jackpot. All questions used on the show are factual in nature and are asked of a panel of 100 individuals in a pre-conducted public survey. A correct answer scores one point for each survey subject who gave it and the objective is to achieve as low a score as possible. "Pointless" answers are correct responses that were not given by anyone surveyed, score zero points and are the most desirable.
