Marsi
The Marsi were an Italic people of ancient Italy, whose chief centre was Marruvium, on the eastern shore of Lake Fucinus (which was drained for agricultural land in the late 19th century). The area in which they lived is now called Marsica. During the Roman Republic, the people of the region spoke a language now termed Marsian in scholarly English. It is attested by several inscriptions and a few glosses. The LINGUIST List classifies it as one of the Umbrian Group of languages. Language Corpus The Marsian inscriptions are dated by the style of the alphabet from about 300 to 150 BC (the middle Roman Republic). Conway lists nine inscriptions, one from Ortona and two each from Marruvium, Lecce, Trasacco and Luco. In addition, there are a few glosses, a few place names and a few dozen personal names in Latin form. Marsi (Germanic)
The Marsi (german: Marser) were a small Germanic tribe settled between the Rhine, Ruhr and Lippe rivers in northwest Germany. It has been suggested that they were a part of the Sugambri who managed to stay east of the Rhine after most Sugambri had been moved from this area. Strabo describes the Marsi as an example of a Germanic tribe who were originally from the Rhine area, now the war-torn Roman frontier, but had migrated deep into Germania. History Tacitus mentions them repeatedly, in particular in the context of the wars of Germanicus. They had been part of the tribal coalition of the Cheruscian war leader and traitor to Rome, Arminius that in 9 AD annihilated three Roman legions under Varus in the Battle of Teutoburg Forest. Germanicus, seeking revenge for this defeat, invaded the lands of the Marsi in 14 AD with 12,000 legionnaires, 26 cohorts of auxiliaries and eight cavalry squadrons. The Conti di Marsi, the Counts of Marsi, were a lineage of Frankish origin who figured among the main feudal lords of Abruzzo, part of the Duchy of Spoleto in southern Italy, during the eleventh and twelfth centuries. With Celano as their main seat, they ruled over a territory that stretched from Lake Fucino as far as the Peligni. They descended from a certain Berardo who was called "Francisco" because he came from Francia, who came to Italy with Hugh of Provence, King of Italy from 924 until his death in 948. According to the Chronicle of Monte Cassino, the first known member of this family, Azzo, Berardo's uncle, was a Burgundian count. Suan Pakkad Palace or ''Suan Pakkard Palace'' ( th, สวนผักกาด, , ) is a museum in Bangkok, Thailand. It is located on Sri Ayutthaya Road, south of the Victory Monument. The museum has Thai antiques on display, including Ban Chiang pottery which are over 4,000 years old. Originally the home of Prince Chumbhotbongs Paribatra (1904–1959) and his wife, they converted it into a museum which opened in 1952. The museum features a group of four traditional Thai houses with covered hallways between them. There is also artwork on display in its Marsi Gallery. Franca Marzi (18 August 1926 – 6 March 1989) was an Italian film actress. She appeared in 80 films between 1943 and 1977. Life and career Born in Rome as Francesca Marsi, after working in the revue, Marzi made her film debut in her early twenties, in ''The Lovers'' (1946) by Giacomo Gentilomo. She was usually cast in roles of provocative women and femme fatales in films of sentimental or comic genre. The only exception was the Federico Fellini's drama '' Nights of Cabiria'' (1957), in which she played the role of the prostitute Wanda, the best friend of Giulietta Masina, a role for which she was rewarded with the Silver Ribbon for Best Supporting Actress. Paolo Marsi
Paolo Marsi or Paolo Marso, in Latin Paulus Marsus or Paulus Marsus Piscinas (1440–1484) was an Italian humanist and poet known primarily for his commentary on the ''Fasti'' of Ovid. Marsi was born at Pescina, and was the brother of the Pietro Marsi who was an acquaintance of Erasmus. He was a student of Pomponio Leto, and became a professor of rhetoric. He was a friend of Lodovico Lazzarelli, and a member of the Roman Academy who participated in antiquarian activities such as celebrating the founding of Rome. In the 1460s, several of the sodality's members, including the Marsi brothers, were imprisoned for fomenting "republicanism, paganism, and conspiracy". Marsi was among the poets who addressed homoerotic praise in the manner of Martial to Lucio Fazini, a handsome young scholar who was also incarcerated and tortured for pursuing classical studies. Marsi Sukhumbhand Paribatra ( th, มารศีสุขุมพันธุ์ บริพัตร; ; 25 August 1930 – 9 July 2013) was the only daughter of Prince Chumbhotbongs Paribatra, Chumbhot Paripatra, Prince of Nakhon Sawan. She was also an artist. Her style was Mom Chao, Mom Chao Ying (HSH). Early life and career Princess Marsi Paribatra was born in Bangkok, Thailand, but spent much of her childhood abroad in Java, Indonesia and England, United Kingdom, as her father left Thailand in the wake of the Siamese revolution of 1932, Siamese Revolution of 1932. After World War II, she completed her education in Switzerland, France and Spain and was the first female pupil at Aiglon College. Phobos (; systematic designation: ) is the innermost and larger of the two natural satellites of Mars, the other being Deimos. The two moons were discovered in 1877 by American astronomer Asaph Hall. It is named after Phobos, the Greek god of fear and panic, who is the son of Ares (Mars) and twin brother of Deimos. Phobos is a small, irregularly shaped object with a mean radius of . Phobos orbits from the Martian surface, closer to its primary body than any other known planetary moon.
