Marquette is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It comprises the cities of Dorval, L'Île-Dorval, and the Lachine borough of Montreal. It was created for the 1981 election from parts of Jacques-Cartier, Marguerite-Bourgeoys and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce electoral districts. Urban Agglomeration Of Montreal
Montreal is one of the administrative regions of the Canadian province of Quebec. It is also a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and a census division (CD), for both of which its geographical code is 66. Prior to the merger of the municipalities in ''Region 06'' in 2002, the administrative region was co-extensive with the Montreal Urban Community. Jacques-Cartier
Jacques-Cartier is an electoral district in the West Island of Montreal, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It is the only provincial electoral district in Quebec with an Anglophone majority. It notably includes the city of Pointe-Claire. Named after Jacques Cartier, the district existed in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada, and its present incarnation dates from the 1867 election. In 2011, district boundaries were redrawn, and part of Kirkland was transferred to Nelligan, in exchange for Senneville. Châteauguay (provincial Electoral District)
Châteauguay is a provincial riding (electoral district) in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the city of Châteauguay. It was originally created in 1867 (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada). Its final election was in 1936. It disappeared in the 1939 and its successor electoral district was Châteauguay-Laprairie. However, Châteauguay-Laprairie only existed for one election. Châteauguay was re-created for the 1944 election. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Sainte-Catherine to the newly created Sanguinet electoral district. It comprises the LaSalle borough of the city of Montreal. It was created for the 1966 election from parts of Jacques-Cartier and Montréal–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce electoral districts. D'Arcy-McGee
D'Arcy-McGee is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of the province of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It consists of the cities of Côte-Saint-Luc and Hampstead and part of the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough of the city of Montreal. It is the only provincial electoral district in Quebec with a Jewish plurality. It is considered to be one of the safest districts in Quebec for the Liberals; in the 2014 provincial election the Liberals garnered 92% of the vote, making it the most secure seat in the province. It was created for the 1966 election from parts of the former Montréal-Outremont and Westmount–Saint-Georges electoral districts. François Ouimet
François Ouimet (born August 20, 1959 in Montreal, Quebec) is a former Quebec politician and lawyer. He is the former Member of National Assembly for the riding of Marquette in Montreal. He represented the Quebec Liberal Party. Ouimet studied at the Université de Montréal and obtained a bachelor's degree in Canadian literature. He also received a bachelor's degree in civil law and common law at McGill University. In 1989 he was admitted to the Quebec Bar, the Canadian Bar and the Montreal Bar. He was a lawyer between 1990 and 1994 before jumping to provincial politics. He was a commissioner and president of the Catholic School Board of Montreal. Ouimet was first elected in Marquette in 1994 and re-elected in 1998, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Enrico Ciccone
Enrico Pasquale Ciccone (born April 10, 1970) is a Canadian politician and former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He currently represents Marquette as a member of the Quebec Liberal Party. Hockey career Ciccone was drafted in 1990 by the Minnesota North Stars. After playing just 31 games with the North Stars, he was traded to the Washington Capitals prior to the 1993–94 NHL season. After just 51 games, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning at the trade deadline. Ciccone also played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes, and Vancouver Canucks before he returned for a second tour with the Lightning. During the 1998–99 season the Lightning traded him to the Capitals for his second tour in Washington. His final NHL games were played with the Montreal Canadiens. LaSalle, Montreal
LaSalle () is the most southerly borough (''arrondissement'') of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located in the south-west portion of the Island of Montreal, along the Saint Lawrence River. Prior to 2002, it was a separate municipality that had been incorporated in 1912. History LaSalle was named for the area's first ''seigneur'', French explorer René-Robert Cavelier de La Salle (1643–1687).
