Marlon Menjívar
Marlon Menjívar Ernesto (born 1 September 1965) is a retired Salvadoran professional footballer. Club career The moustached Menjívar was part of Luis Ángel Firpo's most successful team of all time, playing in midfield alongside Firpo greats as Leonel Cárcamo, Edgar Henríquez and Giovanni Trigueros and winning four league titles with them. He scored the winning (and only) goal in the 1991 championship final against C.D. Águila. International career Menjívar made his debut for El Salvador in a March 1989 friendly match against Guatemala and has earned a total of 16 caps, scoring no goals. He has represented his country at the 1995 UNCAF Nations Cup and was a non-playing squad member at the 1996 CONCACAF Gold Cup. El Salvador (; , meaning " The Saviour"), officially the Republic of El Salvador ( es, República de El Salvador), is a country in Central America. FIFA World Cup Qualification
The FIFA World Cup qualification is a competitive match that a national association football team takes in order to qualify for one of the available berths at the final tournament of the (men's) FIFA World Cup. Qualifying tournaments are held within the six FIFA continental zones, each organized by their respective confederations: AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), CONCACAF (North and Central America and the Caribbean), CONMEBOL (South America), OFC (Oceania), and UEFA (Europe). The Cuba national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Cuba) represents Cuba in men's international football and it is controlled by the Football Association of Cuba. Nicknamed Leones del Caribe (''Lions of Caribbean''), the team represents all three FIFA, Caribbean Football Union and Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). The 1996 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the third edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). The tournament returned to the United States and California; the games were hosted by Los Angeles, San Diego, and Anaheim. The format of the tournament changed from 1993: it was expanded to nine teams, separated into three groups of three and played in January as opposed to the 1993 edition which was played in July. The top team in each group, plus the best second-place finisher would advance to the semifinals. For the first time, a non-CONCACAF team was invited: Brazil, who sent their under-23 side.
