Marlon Knauer
Marlon Knauer (born August 19, 1987 in East Berlin) is a German singer, identified on album covers, concert advertisements, and other media only by his first name. At the age of 14, he was "discovered" by Rolf Brendel, formerly the drummer for Nena. In 2002, his second single, "Lieber Gott", made in collaboration with Peter Maffay, Nena, Udo Lindenberg, Herbert Dreilich, Joachim Witt and Rolf Stahlhofen, was a breakthrough, reaching No.6 on the German charts. Revenue from the song was used to help victims of the 2002 European floods. In the same year his first album, ''Hallo Liebes Leben'', was released. Gabriele Susanne Kerner (born 24 March 1960), better known as Nena, is a German singer and songwriter who rose to international fame in 1983 as the lead vocalist of the band Nena with the Neue Deutsche Welle song "99 Luftballons". Peter Alexander Makkay (born 30 August 1949), known as Peter Maffay (), is a Romanian-born German musician, singer, and composer. Early life Born in Braşov (german: link=no, Kronstadt), Romania, the son of a German (Transylvanian Saxon), he was 14 when his family relocated to his parents' West Germany in 1963. In the same year, he started his first band, The Dukes. After completing his education and working for Chemigraphics, an art manufacturer, Maffay worked in clubs, where he distributed his music. Udo Lindenberg
Udo Lindenberg (born 17 May 1946) is a German singer, drummer, and composer. Career Lindenberg started his musical career as a drummer. In 1969, he founded his first band Free Orbit, and also appeared as a studio and guest musician (with Michael Naura, Knut Kiesewetter). In 1970, he collaborated as a drummer with jazz saxophonist Klaus Doldinger in Munich. In 1971 Passport, a band founded by Doldinger, released its first album, with Lindenberg on drums. He also played drums for the theme music for the German TV series ''Tatort''. The first LP by the jazz rock group Emergency was released in 1971, but met with little commercial success. Herbert Dreilich (5 December 1942 – 12 December 2004) was a German-language rock musician. He was an early pioneer in, and an important contributor to, German-language Rock music. An accomplished singer, songwriter, and acoustic guitarist, he was best known as lead singer for the group Karat. Biography Dreilich was born in 1942 in Mauterndorf, Austria, which at that time was a part of Nazi Germany. As a child he moved with his family to Great Britain, and then to West Germany. Joachim Witt
Joachim Witt (born 22 February 1949) is a German rock musician and actor. Biography Witt was the guitarist/singer in the 1970s krautrock band Duesenberg. He released three albums with them, ''Duesenberg'' (1977), ''Duesenberg 2'' (1978) and ''Strangers'' (1979), before embarking on a solo career as a singer and actor. 2002 European Floods
In August 2002, a week of intense rainfall produced flooding across a large portion of Europe. It reached the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Ukraine and Russia. The event killed 232 people and left (US$27.115 billion) in damage.
