Marlo Henderson
Marlo Henderson was an American guitarist and saxophonist, who played in mainly blues and R&B genres. As a session musician he played on albums such as '' Off the Wall'' by Michael Jackson, '' Them Changes'' by Buddy Miles, '' Face to Face'' by Evelyn "Champagne" King, ''I Am''. He also played on the "Girlfriend" song by Paul McCartney. As a songwriter he co-wrote "Young, Willing and Able" with Minnie Riperton which appears on '' Petals: The Minnie Riperton Collection'' album. He also co-wrote "Strange Affair" with Riperton which appears on her ''Love Lives Forever'' album. Other compositions include "In The Morning" which appears on Táta Vega's '' Try My Love'' album and "Power in Your Love" with Booker T. Jones and Michael Stokes. He was also a producer. ''Face to Face'' is the sixth album released by R&B singer Evelyn "Champagne" King on RCA Records in 1983. It was produced by André Cymone, Leon Sylvers III, Foster Sylvers, and Joey Gallo. Background Straying from the post-disco sound prominent in her most commercially successful releases ''I'm in Love'' and ''Get Loose'' she embarked on a "punk funk" sound, moving towards the musical territory of Prince and the alike. In charge of the album production and musical direction was Leon Sylvers III, SOLAR Records producer known for his work for Shalamar and The Whispers, and Andre Cymone, a former bass player for Prince, replacing Kashif and Paul Lawrence Jones III. Roscoe Lee Browne (May 2, 1922 – April 11, 2007) was an American actor and director. He resisted playing stereotypically black roles, instead performing in several productions with New York City's Shakespeare Festival Theater, Leland Hayward's satirical NBC series ''That Was the Week That Was'', and a poetry performance tour of the United States in addition to his work in television and film. He is perhaps best known for his role as Saunders in ''Soap'' (1979–1981). In 1976, Browne was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Single Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Drama Series for his work on ABC's ''Barney Miller''. Michael Stokes (record Producer)
Michael Stokes (born September 26, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan) is an American record producer, former A&M Records executive and songwriter, who is best known for producing Enchantment, working with Janet Jackson and Creative Source. Biography Stokes first rose to prominence in the early 1970s working with Clarence Avant on his Sussex Records label, when writing for and producing acts such as Bill Withers, Creative Source, The Soul Searchers, Faith, Hope & Charity, and Dennis Coffey. When Sussex folded in June 1975, Stokes moved over to Roadshow Records. More success came writing and producing Enchantment's first three albums, along with writing songs for Brass Construction, BT Express, Shirley Caesar (1978), and then Nature's Divine on Infinity Records (1979). In the early 1980s, Stokes took over as A&R at A&M Records where he signed Janet Jackson. ''Try My Love'' is an R&B studio album by Táta Vega. It is her third solo album and was released on Motown's Tamla label in late 1978. While not as critically acclaimed as her two previous albums, it received the greatest success on Billboard's Pop and R&B album charts. The double-sided 12 inch single "I Just Keep Thinking About You Baby/Get It Up For Love" hit the Top 20 on Billboard's Dance Music charts. Táta Vega (born Carmen Rosa Vega, October 7, 1951) is an American vocalist, whose career spans theater, film, and a variety of musical genres. Early life Vega was born in Jamaica Queens, New York and raised between New York, Chicago, Texas, Panama and Puerto Rico. She is of Puerto Rican, Dominican, African, Spanish and Italian descent. Her parents are Luis Alfredo De La Vega, who served in the United States Air Force, and Rosaura Maltés. As a result of her father's work, the family moved frequently. Before she was even a teenager, the family lived in Panama, Puerto Rico, San Antonio, Texas, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
