Markus Poschner
Markus Poschner (born 1971, Munich) is a German conductor and pianist. Biography Poschner studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Hermann Michael. His mentors and supporters included Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Colin Davis and Jorma Panula. From 2000 to 2006, Poschner was chief conductor of the ''Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt''. He has also been first ''Kapellmeister'' of the Komische Oper Berlin. From 2007 to 2017, Poschner was ''Generalmusikdirektor'' (GMD) of the city of Bremen, which encompassed chief conductorships of the Bremer Philharmoniker and of the Theater Bremen. Poschner became chief conductor of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana as of the 2015-2016 season. In February 2015, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz announced the appointment of Poschner as its next chief conductor, effective with the 2017-2018 season. Dennis Russell Davies (born April 16, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio) is an American conductor and pianist, He is currently the music director and chief conductor of the Brno Philharmonic. Biography Davies studied piano and conducting at the Juilliard School, where he received his doctorate. He was Music Director of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra from 1972 to 1980. In 1977 he co-founded the American Composers Orchestra with composer Francis Thorne, and he was its music director until 2002. Davies was music director of the Brooklyn Philharmonic from 1991 to 1996. In 1980, Davies moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where he was General Music Director of the Baden-Württemberg State Opera House from 1980 to 1987. There he premiered two Philip Glass operas, along with many standard operas, often in productions with innovative and unusual staging. Marko Letonja (born 12 August 1961) is a Slovenian conductor. Biography Letonja studied piano and conducting at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where his conducting teachers included Anton Nanut. He continued his conducting studies at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, with such teachers as Otmar Suitner. He granted from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts in 1989. From 1996 to 2002, Letonja was chief conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and from 2003 to 2006, held the same position with Sinfonieorchester Basel. From 2011 through the end of 2018, Letonja was chief conductor and artistic director of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO). He now has the title of conductor laureate of the TSO. Lawrence Renes (born 1970) is a Dutch-Maltese conductor. He studied violin at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and conducting at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, from which he graduated ''cum laude'' in 1993. Renes was the first prize winner at the 1992 Nederlandse Omroep Stichting conducting course NIS. In 1992, he also won the Elisabeth Everts Prize. The German Conducting Award (GCA) (formerly Deutscher Dirigentenpreis) is an international competition for concert and opera conducting and serves to promote young conductors of all nations who are younger than 33 years of age.
