Alex McDonald (Wisconsin Politician)
Alexander McDonald (June 28, 1866 – April 20, 1936) was an American politician and businessman. Born in the town of Manchester, Green Lake County, Wisconsin, McDonald received his bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University in 1889. He was a farmer, real estate developer, bank director, and in the canning industry. McDonald was the town clerk and the supervisor of assessment for Green Lake County. He lived in Markesan, Wisconsin. Samuel Barter
Samuel Barter (February 14, 1828 – December 16, 1908) was a member of the Wisconsin (USA) State Assembly in 1879. Barter was born on February 14, 1828, in Kingskerswell, England. He came to Wisconsin in 1849, living in Markesan and originally employed as a merchant, later becoming a member of the county board of supervisors in Green Lake County. Delphine Hanna
Delphine Hanna (December 2, 1854 – April 16, 1941) was an American physician, teacher, and college professor. She taught physical education at Oberlin College beginning in 1885, and became the first woman to hold the title "Professor of Physical Education" in the United States in 1903. Early life Hanna was born in Markesan, Wisconsin, the daughter of John Vacausan Hanna and Juliet Chadwick Hanna. Archibald Nichols
Archibald Nichols (May 12, 1819 – November 1, 1903) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Nichols was born on May 12, 1819, in Norway, New York. An Episcopalian, Nichols married his wife, Mary, at Grace Episcopal Church in Norway on April 22, 1845, and they had five children. Nichols was a farmer by trade. He died on November 1, 1903, and was buried in Lawton, Oklahoma. Political career Nichols was a member of the Assembly during the 1848, 1854, 1862, 1872 and 1872 sessions representing at different times the counties of Marquette, Green Lake and Waushara. Frank Luptow
Frank Luptow (born Frank Lueptow) (1914-1952) was an American racing driver. He competed in International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) big cars (now sprint cars) and NASCAR stock cars. He won the 1949, 1950, and 1951 IMCA big car championships. Background Luptow was born at Markesan, Wisconsin to Frank and Ida Lueptow in 1914 with Dutch heritage. He later dropped the "E" from his last name. Racing career Luptow moved to Detroit, Michigan and won in his first race at Jackson. He raced in several Central States Racing Association (CSRA) races before World War II. During the war, he was a test driver for tanks. After his discharge from the military, he moved back to Detroit and worked for a tank manufacturer. Area code 920 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for a large area of eastern Wisconsin. It was created on July 26, 1997, in a split from area code 414, which formerly served the entire eastern third of the state. 920 is scheduled to be overlaid with area code 274 on May 5, 2023. In 2008, service providers recognized the need for a second area code for northeastern Wisconsin, leading the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to approve an overlay plan with new area code 274.
