Mark Poole
Mark Poole (born August 31, 1963) is an American fantasy artist, best known for working on the first set of Magic: the Gathering cards. Biography Poole was born on August 31, 1963, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He graduated from University of South Carolina in 1986 with a BFA in fine arts and design. Poole works mostly in acrylic, oil and digital media. He has also worked for companies such as White Wolf Publishing, Warcraft, Sony Online Entertainment, Upper Deck and Ziggurat Games. His work was featured at FantasyCon in July 2014. His artwork featured on the Magic: the Gathering basic Island card from the ''Summer Magic 1994'' set fetches about $600. Gen Con
Gen Con is the largest tabletop game convention in North America by both attendance and number of events. It features traditional pen-and-paper, board, and card games, including role-playing games, miniatures wargames, live action role-playing games, collectible card games, and strategy games. Gen Con also features computer games. Attendees engage in a variety of tournament and interactive game sessions. In 2019, Gen Con had nearly 70,000 unique attendees. ''The Salt Lake Tribune'' is a newspaper published in the city of Salt Lake City, Utah. The ''Tribune'' is owned by The Salt Lake Tribune, Inc., a non-profit corporation. ''Mortal Kombat Kard Game'' is an out-of-print collectible card game released in January 1996 by BradyGames in cooperation with Midway Games. It is based on the ''Mortal Kombat'' video game series but without excessive violence like its video game counterparts. Middle-earth Collectible Card Game (MECCG) is an out-of-print collectible card game released by Iron Crown Enterprises in late 1995. It is the first CCG based on J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth, with added content from ICE's Middle-earth Role Playing Game. Legend of the Five Rings (often abbreviated ''L5R'') is a fictional setting created by John Zinser, Dave Seay, Ryan Dancey, Dave Williams, DJ Trindle, Matt Wilson and John Wick and first published by a joint venture between Alderac Entertainment Group and ISOMEDIA in 1995. The setting primarily involves the fictional empire of Rokugan, though some additional areas and cultures have been discussed. Rokugan is based roughly on feudal Japan with influences from other East Asian cultures such as China, Mongolia and Korea. This setting is the basis for the Legend of the Five Rings Collectible Card Game as well as the Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game. Galactic empires are a common trope used in science fantasy and science fiction, particularly in works known as 'space operas'. Fantasy Adventures is an out-of-print collectible card game by Mayfair Games. It was first released in June 1996. Doomtown
Doomtown: Reloaded (originally ''Deadlands: Doomtown'') is an expandable card game based on the ''Deadlands'' role-playing game. It was originally a collectible card game that ran from 1998 through 2001 and was revived as the Reloaded version in 2014. During the game, each player builds locations in the town and fights for overall control. Doomtown sets itself apart from other card games in that each card doubles as a playing card, which impacts both deck building and gameplay. Players resolve certain in-game situations (such as combat) with a hand of poker, accentuating the Old West atmosphere of the game. The game's movement rules are also noteworthy, often being compared to chess. Doomtown is also a heavily story-driven game, with many tie-ins to the events of ''Deadlands'' at-large.
