Mark Lawson (cricketer)
Mark Anthony Kenneth Lawson (born 24 October 1985) is an English former first-class cricketer. A leg spinner, he most recently played first-class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club in June 2010. He has also played for Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Middlesex and Staffordshire. Biography Born in Leeds, Yorkshire, Lawson was educated at Castle Hall College. He was selected for the North of England Under 14/15 and he made his Second XI debut for Yorkshire in 2003. He made his first-class debut against Somerset at North Marine Road Ground, Scarborough in July 2004. He toured Australia with the England Under 19 team, played against South Africa in 2003, and was a member of the squad for the Under 19 World Cup in Bangladesh in February 2004. He is given specialised coaching by Terry Jenner as part of the ECB's Elite Wrist Spin Programme. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The Yorkshire ECB County Premier League was the top level of competition for recreational club cricket in Yorkshire, England, and between 1999 and 2015 was a designated ECB Premier League. The competing teams in 2015, which was the league's last season, were: Appleby Frodingham, Barnsley, Castleford, Cleethorpes, Doncaster Town, Driffield Town, Harrogate, Hull, Rotherham Town, Sheffield Collegiate, Sheffield United, York, and Yorkshire CCC Academy. Barnsley Woolley Miners Cricket Club members play in the Yorkshire ECB County Premier Leaguebr> the club won the league title in 2006 for the first time in its history. A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches.
