Mark's Stadium
Mark's Stadium is a former soccer stadium located in North Tiverton, Rhode Island. During the 1920s and early 1930s it was the home of Fall River Marksmen, one of the era’s most successful soccer teams. Shawsheen Indians
Shawsheen Indians were a United States soccer club based in Andover, Massachusetts during the early 1920s. History The Shawsheen Football Club, known by its nickname The Indians, was founded by George Park and played in the New Bedford Industrial Soccer League in the early 1920s. In 1924, Park left the team and George Wallace, private secretary to William Wood owner of the American Woolen Company, took over management of the team. He had a vision of taking the Indians to the top of the U.S. soccer world. To realize that dream, he convinced Mr. Wood to sponsor the team and fund the building of a state of the art soccer stadium, Balmoral Park. Wallace then recruited several Scottish league players to move to the United States. Alex Carrie
Alex Carrie was a Scottish soccer center forward who played professionally in both Scotland and the USA during the early twentieth century. He was born in Arbroath, Scotland. Carrie began his career with Ardenlea before moving the Arbroath F.C. In 1924, George Wallace recruited several Scottish League players to play for his team, the Shawsheen Indians of the New England National League. At the time, Wallace had convinced William Madison Wood, owner of the American Woolen Company, to sponsor the team. With the financial backing of Wood, Wallace entered the Indians in the 1925 National Challenge Cup, the first time the team had entered that competition. It took the title with a 3–0 victory over Chicago Canadian Club with Carrie scoring a goal in the final. Edmund Smith (soccer)
Edmund "Eddie" Smith (October 25, 1902 – August 7, 1978) was a soccer player who played as a forward. He played professionally in both Scotland and the United States. Born in Scotland, he earned one cap for the United States national team. Professional Smith played for Scottish club Arbroath F.C. before moving to the United States where he signed with the Shawsheen Indians of Andover, Massachusetts. In 1925, the Indians won the U S Open Cup 3–0 over the Canadian Club of Chicago. In 1926, the Indians entered the American Soccer League, but folded twenty-six games into the 1926–1927 season. Harold Brittan
Harold Pemberton Brittan (11 November 1894 – 9 April 1964) was a U.S.-English soccer center forward. He began his career in England with Chelsea before moving to the United States. In the U.S., he was a prolific goalscorer with the powerhouse Bethlehem Steel, Philadelphia Field Club and Fall River Marksmen clubs in the National Association Football League and American Soccer League. He was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1951. England Brittan began his professional career with English First Division club Chelsea during the 1913–1914 season. He saw time in only two games, scoring two goals. The next season, his playing time increased to only nine games in which he scored another two goals. Although the Yankees survived only a short time, they beat Celtic in a prestige friendly and effectively won the 1931 National Challenge Cup. However, due to complications over the merger their moment of glory was credited to the Fall River Marksmen.
