Maritime Square
Maritime Square is a four-storey shopping centre located on Tsing Yi Island in Hong Kong. It was built and is owned by MTR Corporation (MTRC) in conjunction with the opening of Tsing Yi station. History The shopping centre opened on 1 April 1999 and has a floor area of . The landlords claimed in December 2004 that daily pedestrian traffic at the mall is 170,000. MTR expanded the shopping centre onto the site of the Tsing Yi lorry park. Some opposed the plan because it blocks the already crowded skyline. The MTR broke ground on the $2.4 billion project in 2015, and work was completed in 2017. Design Maritime Square is the first shopping mall in Hong Kong adopting ocean and navigation as the design theme. Shops Maritime Square houses a total of 140 shops. Tsing Yi, sometimes referred to as Tsing Yi Island, is an island in the urban area of Hong Kong, to the northwest of Hong Kong Island and south of Tsuen Wan. With an area of , the island has extended drastically by reclamation along almost all its natural shore and the annexation of Nga Ying Chau () and Chau Tsai. Tsing Yi Station
Tsing Yi is an interchange station of the MTR between the Tung Chung line and Airport Express on Tsing Yi Island in Hong Kong. The station is located between Sunny Bay station and Lai King station on the Tung Chung Line, and between Airport station and Kowloon station on the Airport Express. The livery of the station is dull teal. Tsing Yi station is connected to a major interchange for buses and maxicabs, situated adjacent to the station, which serves as a public transport hub for the New Territories. It is embedded into the Maritime Square shopping centre.
