Marion Andres
Marion Santos Andres (born July 25, 1958) is a Filipino politician and physician who served as vice mayor of Marikina since 2019, a post that he previously held from 2001 to 2010. Prior to his election as vice mayor, he also served as councilor of Marikina from 1992 to 2001. He is the son of former Marikina vice mayor, Jose Andres. He took his grade school and high school education from Marist School - Marikina. He graduated as a physician from the medical school of Lyceum-Northwestern University in Dagupan. He also unsuccessfully ran for mayor in 2010 Marikina local elections, 2010 and for vice mayor in 2013 Marikina local elections, 2013. Marikina (), officially the City of Marikina ( fil, Lungsod ng Marikina), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 456,159 people. It is located along the eastern border of Metro Manila, Marikina is the main gateway of Metro Manila to Rizal and Quezon provinces through Marikina–Infanta Highway. It is bordered on the west by Quezon City, to the south by Pasig and Cainta, to the north by San Mateo, and to the east by Antipolo, the capital of Rizal province. It was founded by the Jesuits on the fertile Marikina Valley in 1630. Marikina was the provincial capital of the Province of Manila under the First Philippine Republic from 1898 to 1899 during the Philippine Revolution. Del Reyes de Guzman (born January 9, 1963) is a Filipino politician who served as the 11th Mayor of Marikina from 2010 to 2016. He had previously served as Representative for the city's lone district from 2001 up to its division in 2007, wherein he served as the representative for the second district until 2016. Education De Guzman had his elementary education at H. Bautista Elementary School, secondary at Roosevelt College in Marikina and his college degree at the University of the East. Local elections were held in Marikina on May 10, 2010 as part of that year's Philippine general election. In this election, the mayoralty and vice mayoralty were contested, along with the sixteen seats in the city council and the city's two seats in the House of Representatives.
