Mário Sérgio Santos Costa (born 29 May 1990), commonly known as Marinho (), is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a forward for Flamengo. Marinho began his career at Fluminense, and subsequently represented several teams in his home country before impressing with Vitória in 2016. He then moved to Chinese club Changchun Yatai in 2017, but returned to Brazil in the following year with Grêmio. After moving to Santos in 2019, he enjoyed a prolific 2020 season, earning several individual awards such as the South American Footballer of the Year. In 2022, he moved to Flamengo. Club career Early career Marinho was born in Penedo, Alagoas, and played for Penedense, Corinthians-AL and Fluminense's youth categories. Roberto Pisani Marinho (December 3, 1904 – August 6, 2003) was a Brazilian businessman who was the owner of media conglomerate Grupo Globo from 1925 to 2003, and during this period expanded the company from newspapers to radio and television. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Marinho inherited the newspaper ''O Globo'' and began working there as a reporter. Later he became the chief editor. Marinho founded and was the president of the Brazilian TV channel, Rede Globo, the biggest television network in the country; it now has 123 stations and associates. Marinho is considered one of the most influential and powerful figures of the 20th century in Brazil. Mário Rui Correia Tomás (born 26 April 1983), known as Marinho, is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a winger. He spent most of his career with Naval and Académica, totalling 209 Primeira Liga games and 23 goals between them and scoring the only goal as the latter won the Taça de Portugal in 2012. He added 103 appearances and 11 goals in LigaPro, for Académica and Fátima. Francisco das Chagas Marinho (8 February 1952 – 31 May 2014), generally known as Marinho Chagas or Francisco Marinho, was a Brazilian professional footballer. He is most well-known for his time at Flamengo beginning in 1980. Career Club career Marinho began his career in the youth academy of Londrina in 1973. Club career Born in Lisbon, Marinho started his career with local Atlético Clube de Portugal, making his Primeira Liga debut in the 1962–63 season and suffering relegation as second from bottom. Three of the following four years with the club were spent in the second division.
