Marine Parade MRT station is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Thomson–East Coast line in Marine Parade, Singapore. Located underneath Marine Parade Road near the junction of Marine Parade Central, the station will serve the nearby housing estates as well as Parkway Parade, hotels and I12 Katong. History On 15 August 2014, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that Marine Parade station would be part of the proposed Thomson–East Coast line (TEL). The station will be constructed as part of Phase 4, consisting of 8 stations between Founders' Memorial and Bayshore, and is expected to be completed in 2024. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. Parkway Parade is a suburban shopping centre in Marine Parade, Singapore. Officially opened in March 1984, it has a 17-floor office tower and a seven-storey shopping mall with a basement. Developed by Parkway Holdings, the company sold the building to Asia Pacific Investment Company in 2000. The mall is managed by Lendlease. SMRT Trains Limited is a rail operator in Singapore and a wholly owned subsidiary of SMRT Corporation. After the privatisation of the MRT operations in 1995, it was originally named Singapore MRT Limited. Marine Parade is a planning area and residential estate located in the Central Region of Singapore. Straddling the tip of the southeastern coast of Pulau Ujong, Marine Parade serves as a buffer between the Central and East regions of the city-state. i12 Katong (formerly Katong Mall and Katong People's Complex) is a seven-storey shopping mall in the east of Singapore. It is located at the intersection of East Coast Road and Joo Chiat Road. The mall was closed for renovations since March 2020 and had its soft reopening on 23 December 2021, and its grand reopening on 23 June 2022.
