Marina Latorre
Marina Latorre Uribe (born 14 August 1925) is a Chilean writer, journalist and gallerist. Life Latorre was born in Punta Arenas, Chile. In the 1940s, she moved to Santiago to pursue a career as a literature teacher at Universidad de Chile. During that same period, she married Eduardo Bolt, with whom she founded the Bolt Art Gallery, at Londres #92, in the heart of the cultural and historic Santiago Neighborhood Barrio París-Londres. In 1965, Latorre founded the Literature magazine "Portal" with Pablo Neruda as a collaborator, including, then inedit, poems such as "Corona del archipiélago para :es:Rubén Azócar, Rubén Azócar" (which triggered Neruda's famous rivalry with Pablo de Rokha), "Corbata para Nicanor Parra" and "Oda al hombre sencillo". Editora Nacional Quimantú was a Chilean publishing house created in 1971 by Salvador Allende's Unidad Popular government. It was founded under the premise of offering various literary works and a view of Chilean culture not covered by the "official bourgeois tradition" by then, at an accessible price for the country's working class. ''Quimantú'' is mapuche for "sun of knowledge". Now refounded as Editorial Quimantú, it is in charge of "a group of people that decided that dreams aren't of much use if we don't try to make them a reality, belonging to social, cultural and political organizations in various sectors of Santiago de Chile." El Mostrador is a Chilean online newspaper, founded on 1 March 2000. Its current president is Germán Olmedo Acedvedo and its director is Federico Joannon Errázuriz. ''La Nación'' is a Chilean newspaper created in 1917 by Eliodoro Yáñez and presided until 1927 by Carlos Dávila. It was a private company until 1927, when it was expropriated by president Carlos Ibáñez del Campo, and since then has remained a state property. Currently it is owned by Empresa Periodística La Nación S.A., which in turn is 69% owned by the State of Chile. Is published by the SA La Nacion newspaper company that also publishes the Official Journal of the Republic of Chile.
