Marianela Lacayo
Marianela Lacayo Mendoza (b. 20 March 1981) is a Nicaraguan model and entrepreneur. She was the winner of Miss Nicaragua 2002 and Miss World Latin International 2002 beauty pageants. Lacayo was born in Managua. She holds a degree in business administration from UNICIT and MBA from the American University of Nicaragua and Technological Institute of Monterray, Master in Image consulting from the Color Me Beautiful school in London and a diploma in Leadership and Electoral Strategies for Political Women from Latin University of Panama. Currently, she works in the fashion sector as an image consultant and in journalism as a columnist for magazines ''Mía'', ''De Boda Novias'', and ''Nicaragua'' and the newspaper ''La Prensa''. Previously, she collaborated with ''Fashion & Life'' and ''Scaparate'', both magazines. ''La Prensa'' is a Nicaraguan newspaper, with offices in the capital Managua. Its current daily circulation is placed at 42,000. Founded in 1926, in 1932 it was bought by Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Zelaya, who had become editor-in-chief. He promoted the Conservative Party of Nicaragua and became a voice of opposition to Juan Bautista Sacasa, for which the paper was censored. He continued to be critical of dictator Anastasio Somoza García, who came to power in a coup d'état. Twice the newspaper suffered the destruction of its building in earthquakes, in 1931 and 1972. Forces of Somoza attacked the newspaper's offices in 1953 and 1956, and its work was repeatedly censored. Drowned
Drowning is a type of suffocation induced by the submersion of the mouth and nose in a liquid. Most instances of fatal drowning occur alone or in situations where others present are either unaware of the victim's situation or unable to offer assistance. After successful resuscitation, drowning victims may experience breathing problems, vomiting, confusion, or unconsciousness. Occasionally, victims may not begin experiencing these symptoms until several hours after they are rescued. An incident of drowning can also cause further complications for victims due to low body temperature, aspiration of vomit, or acute respiratory distress syndrome (respiratory failure from lung inflammation.). The Miss Nicaragua 2002 pageant, was held on March 7, 2002 in Managua, after several weeks of events. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, Marianela Lacayo from Managua won the title. She represented Nicaragua at Miss Universe 2002 held in Puerto Rico but unplaced and also Miss International 2002 held in Tokyo, Japan where she was a semi-finalist.
