Marian Donnelly
Marian Donnelly (née Devlin; August 1938 in Castledawson, County Londonderry) is a former president of the Workers' Party and is a member of the District Policing Partnership for the Magherafelt district of Northern Ireland. Life and career She first became involved in political activity in 1955 when she campaigned for the republican candidate Tom Mitchell in the Mid Ulster constituency and in the re-run of that election after Mitchell was barred from being a candidate because he was in jail for republican activities at the time. Donnelly was a founding member and the first Secretary of the South Derry Civil Rights Association, a branch of the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association. Castledawson
Castledawson is a village in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is mostly within the townland of Shanemullagh (, IPA: ˆanË ËˆÊƒanË ËŒwÊŠlÌªË É™x, about four miles from the north-western shore of Lough Neagh, and near the market town of Magherafelt. At the 2011 Census it had a population of 3,293. History The village sits on the River Moyola and was originally called "Dawson's Bridge". The bridge that crossed the river here was once the largest single span stone bridge in Ireland. The village was named after its 'castle' (actually a large manor house) built by Joshua Dawson in 1713. He was Chief Secretary for Ireland and founded the village in 1710. Tom French (1934 Р12 March 2023) was president of the Workers' Party (Ireland), Workers' Party (from 1996-2000) and an elected member of Craigavon Borough Council (from 1978-1993). Born in Belfast in 1934, French joined Sinn F̩in as a youth and remained with the party as it evolved into the Workers' Party.
