Maria Heiskanen
Maria Heiskanen (born 21 August 1970) is a Finnish actress. She works in cinema, television and theatre. Life Heiskanen's early role in the 1991 Swedish film '' Il Capitano: A Swedish Requiem'' directed by Jan Troell. For her role Heiskanen won the Gold Plaque Award in Chicago International Film Festival for the Best Actress in 1992. Heiskanen lived in Sweden 1993–2003 and worked in movies and theatre. She played in Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern and in the National Swedish Touring Theatre where she for example performed the role of Masja in Anton Chekhovs ''The Seagull'' (2008) directed by Lars Norén. In Finland Heiskanen has worked with Aki Kaurismäki in ''Lights in the Dusk'' (2006). She also played in Aleksi Salmenperä's ''A Man's Work'' (2007) and was nominated for Jussi Awards from both performances. In 2008, Heiskanen starred in the leading role of Jan Troell's ''Everlasting Moments'', for which she won the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress and the Best Actress Award ... The Guldbagge Awards ( sv, Guldbaggen, en, Gold scarab) is an official and annual Swedish film awards ceremony honoring achievements in the Swedish film industry. Winners are awarded a statuette depicting a rose chafer, better known by the name Guldbaggen. The awards, first presented in 1964 at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, are overseen by the Swedish Film Institute. It is described as the Swedish equivalent of the Academy Awards. The awards ceremony was first televised in 1981 on SVT2, and has since then been broadcast, almost every year, on SVT1, SVT2 or TV4. ''The Last Sentence'' ( sv, Dom över död man; Judgement on the dead) is a 2012 Swedish film, directed by Jan Troell and starring Jesper Christensen, Pernilla August, Björn Granath and Ulla Skoog. It is set between 1933 and 1945, and focuses on the life and career of Torgny Segerstedt, a Swedish newspaper editor who was a prominent critic of Hitler and the Nazis during a period when the Swedish government and monarch were intent on maintaining Sweden's neutrality and avoiding tensions with Germany. The film also deals with Segerstedt's relations with his wife, his mistress, and his mistress's husband (who was a close friend of Segerstedt). The film's Swedish title, ''Dom över död man'', comes from a line in the Old Norse poem Hávamál: "Cattle die, kinsmen die, thou wilt also die; but I know one thing that never dies: the judgment on the dead". ''Lights in the Dusk'' ( fi, Laitakaupungin valot) is a 2006 Finnish comedy-drama film written, produced, and directed by Aki Kaurismäki. Starring Janne Hyytiäinen, Ilkka Koivula, and Maria Järvenhelmi, the film was presented at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. It is the last installment in Kaurismäki's "Finland" trilogy after '' Drifting Clouds'' (1996) and ''The Man Without a Past'' (2002). The film is about a security guard who is set up in a robbery by a femme fatale who exploits his gullibility and loyalty.
