Maria Clara Giai Pron (born 31 July 1992) is an Italian slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2007. Giai Pron is an athlete of the Gruppo Sportivo della Marina Militare, Biography She competed in the K1 event at the 2012 Summer Olympics where she qualified for the semifinal after an impressive 3rd place in the heats. However, she failed to qualify for the final after missing a gate in the semifinal, finishing 15th overall in the competition. Canoeing At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's Slalom K-1
The women's K-1 canoe slalom competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place between 30 July and 2 August at the Lee Valley White Water Centre. The gold medal was won by Émilie Fer from France. Competition format In the heats, each competitor had two runs; the 15 athletes with the best time qualified for the semi-finals. Each semi-final consisted of one run each and the best 10 qualified for the final. The final was also one run where the canoeist with the best time won the gold medal. Maria Cristina Giai Pron (born 21 August 1974 in Turin) is an Italian slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1989 to 2010. She won a bronze medal in the K1 event at the 2002 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Bourg St.-Maurice. She also won a bronze medal in the K1 team event at the 1996 European Championships in Augsburg. Canoe slalom (previously known as whitewater slalom) is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on river rapids in the fastest time possible. 2010 European Junior And U23 Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2010 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Markkleeberg, Germany from 4 to 8 August 2010 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA) at the Kanupark Markkleeberg artificial course. It was the 12th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 8th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 17 medal events took place. No medals were awarded for the U23 women's C1 individual and team events due to low number of participating countries. The junior women's C1 team event did not take place. It was the first time that women's C1 class appeared at the European Junior and U23 Championships.
