''Marguerite'' is a 2017 Canadian short drama film, written and directed by Marianne Farley. The film stars Béatrice Picard and Sandrine Bisson. The film premiered at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival on 12 November 2017. In 2018, it screened at both LGBT and general film festivals. It was one of 12 short films selected for screening on Ici TOU.TV in conjunction with the 2018 Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma film festival. Plot An elderly woman confronts her own long-repressed romantic feelings for another woman after learning that her home care nurse is a lesbian. Marianne Farley
Marianne Farley (born Marianne Therien in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian actress and director, best known for her roles as Gem Whitman in ''Imaginaerum (film), Imaginaerum'', Nicole Breen in ''This Life (2015 TV series), This Life'', Dillan Vanderson in Vampire High and Stella and Nancy in ''The Intruder (1999 film), The Intruder''. Early life Marianne Farley grew up in Quebec. She is bilingual (English and French). Her family was an artistic family that made a lot of music. So Farley started to sing from a very young age. When she was 19 she met a couple with their own record company. She worked together with them to release the single ''Histoire sans prénom'' and a music album. Several songs of hers made it into the top 10. She signed a record contract in France, where the album was never released. Later Farley wanted to become an actress. The Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film is an award presented at the annual Academy Awards ceremony. The award has existed, under various names, since 1957. From 1936 until 1956 there were two separate awards, "Best Short Subject, One-reel" and "Best Short Subject, Two-reel", referring to the running time of the short: a standard Reel#Motion picture terminology, reel of film is 1000 feet, or about 11 minutes of run time. A third category "Best Short Subject, color" was used only for 1936 and 1937. From the initiation of short subject awards for 1932 until 1935 the terms were "Best Short Subject, comedy" and "Best Short Subject, novelty".
