Margot Ciccarelli
Margot Ciccarelli (; born 17 November 1993) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor and coach. Representing Italy, she is a multiple-time World, World Pro, World No-Gi and European Open Champion in the lower belt divisions. Ciccarelli is a three-time World Championship medalist, a three-time Pan American Championship medalist and a European Championship black belt medalist. Early life Ciccarelli was born on 17 November 1993 in London, the daughter of an Italian father and a Chinese mother. Raised in the UK, Ciccarelli learned Wushu from the age of 6 before progressing to Chinese kickboxing and Wing Chun Kung Fu. She took her first jiu-jitsu class just before her 19th birthday. The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American Championship (commonly known as Pan Ams or Pans), is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in North America. The event is held annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. The European Championship or European Open (officially called the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship) is the most prestigious and largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Europe by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). The tournament is an open championship accepting competitors from all countries. The IBJJF gives tournaments weighting which helps calculate the number of points an athlete can win via their participation. For the 2017/2018 IBJJF calendar the European Championship has a weighting of 4 alongside the Pan-American Championship (jiu-jitsu) making it second in importance only to the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship which has a weighting of 7. The World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship (commonly known as the Worlds or Mundials) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held once every year by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. It is widely considered to be the most important and prestigious jiu-jitsu tournament of the year. The first edition took place in February 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu ranking system signifies a practitioner's increasing level of technical knowledge and practical skill within the art. Colored belts worn as part of the uniform are awarded to the practitioner.
