Margaret Elisabeth Felix
Thirumathi Margaret Elisabeth Felix (born 1937) is an Indian educator active in the state of Tamil Nadu. She has served at least two terms in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly: Sixth (1977–80) and Seventh (1980–84) as a nominated member belonging to the Anglo-Indian community. Early life Born in Tamil Nadu (then Madras State) on 27 January 1937, Thirumathi Margaret Elisabeth attended the Doveton Corrie Girls' High School. She received her Master of Arts degree from Queen Mary's College, Chennai and did her Teachers' Training course from St. Christopher Training College, Chennai. Career Felix has been a member of the state education board of Tamil Nadu and chairperson of the managing committee for C.S.I. Ewart Matriculation Higher Secondary School. She has also been the headmistress of Doveton Corrie Girls' High School. The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It has a strength of 234 members of whom are democratically elected using the First-past-the-post voting, First-past-the-post system. The presiding officer of the Assembly is the List of Speakers of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Speaker. The term of the Assembly is five years unless dissolved earlier. Since Tamil Nadu has a unicameral legislature, the terms Tamil Nadu Legislature and Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly are almost synonymous and are often confused. Madras State
Madras State was a state of India during the mid-20th century. At the time of its formation in 1950, it included the whole of present-day Tamil Nadu (except Kanyakumari district), Coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema, the Malabar region of North and central Kerala, Bellary, South Canara and Kollegal. Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema were separated to form Andhra State in 1953, while South Canara and Bellary districts along with the Kollegalam taluka of Coimbatore district were merged with Mysore State, and Malabar District with the State of Travancore-Cochin to form Kerala in 1956.
