Marcus Wallenberg (1899–1982)
Marcus "Dodde" Wallenberg Jr. (5 October 1899 – 13 September 1982), was a Swedish banker, business manager and member of the Swedish Wallenberg family. He was the most influential representative for the Swedish industrial tradition and Swedish business’ during the 20th century. He was the CEO of Stockholms Enskilda Bank 1946–1958 and during half a century – from the early 1930s until his death in 1982 – he led and reconstructed many of Sweden's largest companies. During World War Two Marcus together with Erik Boheman were appointed to conduct the Swedish trade negotiations. Marcus Wallenberg had a big interest in sailing and tennis. He participated in the Sailing at the 1936 Summer Olympics, 1936 Olympic sailing competitions and was a Swedish elite tennis player. The KTH Royal Institute of Technology ( sv, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, lit=Royal Institute of Technology), abbreviated KTH, is a public research university in Stockholm, Sweden. KTH conducts research and education in engineering and technology and is Sweden's largest technical university. Currently, KTH consists of five schools with four campuses in and around Stockholm. KTH was established in 1827 as the ''Teknologiska institutet (Institute of Technology)'' and had its roots in the ''Mekaniska skolan (School of Mechanics)'' that was established in 1798 in Stockholm. But the origin of KTH dates back to the predecessor of the ''Mekaniska skolan'', the ''Laboratorium mechanicum'', which was established in 1697 by the Swedish scientist and innovator Christopher Polhem. The Laboratorium mechanicum combined education technology, a laboratory, and an exhibition space for innovations.
