Marcus Campbell (basketball)
Marcus Campbell (born March 11, 1982 in Winter Haven, Florida) is an American former professional basketball player. Campbell is 7'0" tall, and played college basketball at Mississippi State University. College career Campbell played four seasons at Mississippi State from 2001 to 2005. The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Tournament all four years he played there. He scored a career-high 18 points over UMKC in November 2004. He finished his career with 87 blocks, ranking him ninth on the Bulldogs' all-time career blocks list. Professional career Campbell bounced around numerous minor professional leagues in the United States upon leaving Mississippi State in 2005. His stints included time with the Tunica Gamblers (WBA), Rockford Lightning (CBA), Arkansas ArchAngels (WBA), Arkansas RimRockers (NBDL), Oklahoma Storm (USBL), Kansas Cagerz (USBL), Idaho Stampede (NBDL), and Anaheim Arsenal (NBDL). Winter Haven is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is fifty-one miles east of Tampa. The population was 49,219 at the 2020 census. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2019 estimates, this city had a population of 44,955, making it the second most populated city in Polk County. It is a principal city of the Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Pre-history The Timucua and the Calusa were the earliest known inhabitants of the land that would become Winter Haven. Both of these groups were deeply affected by war and disease from the Spanish conquest of Florida in the early 1500s. The Timucua were particularly affected by the expedition of Hernando de Soto.
