Marcin Kubiak
Marcin Antoni Kubiak is a Polish astrophysicist, who obtained his professorship title on 25 April 1994. Member of Committee of Astronomy of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a member of the Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE), co-discoverer (together with OGLE team) of many extrasolar planetary systems (e.g. OGLE-2006-BLG-109L). Author of widely used academic book for astronomy students "Stars and interstellar matter" ( :pl:Gwiazdy i materia międzygwiazdowa). Head of the Warsaw University Observatory , University of Warsaw during 1986–2008. Editor of quarterly scientific journal Acta Astronomica and a chairman of Copernicus Foundation for Polish Astronomy. He is a co-discoverer of 471143 Dziewanna, a trans-Neptunian object and possibly a dwarf planet. 471143 Dziewanna , exact: , provisional designation , is a trans-Neptunian object in the scattered disc, orbiting the Sun in the outermost region of the Solar System. It was discovered on 13 March 2010, by astronomers Andrzej Udalski, Scott Sheppard, Marcin Kubiak and Chad Trujillo at the Las Campanas Observatory in Chile. The discovery was made during the Polish OGLE project of Warsaw University. Based on its absolute magnitude and assumed albedo, it has a diameter of approximately 470 kilometers. It was named after Devana (Polish form: Dziewanna), a Slavic goddess of the wilderness, forests and the hunt. Distance The minor planet orbits the Sun at a distance of 32.6–108.3  AU once every 591 years and 4 months (215,992 days). The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is an online database of over 16 million astronomy and physics papers from both peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed sources. The number of dwarf planets in the Solar System is unknown. Estimates have run as high as 200 in the Kuiper belt and over 10,000 in the region beyond. However, consideration of the surprisingly low densities of many large trans-Neptunian objects suggests that the number of dwarf planets may be much lower, perhaps only nine among bodies known so far. Trans-Neptunian Object
A trans-Neptunian object (TNO), also written transneptunian object, is any minor planet in the Solar System that orbits the Sun at a greater average distance than Neptune, which has a semi-major axis of 30.1 astronomical units (au). Typically, TNOs are further divided into the classical and resonant objects of the Kuiper belt, the scattered disc and detached objects with the sednoids being the most distant ones. As of October 2020, the catalog of minor planets contains 678 numbered and more than 2,000 unnumbered TNOs. The first trans-Neptunian object to be discovered was Pluto in 1930.
