Marcel Sendrail
Marcel Sendrail born in Toulouse (31 August 1900 - 4 June 1976) was a French Republic, French physician and writer. Biography Marcel Sendrail comes from a line of Languedoc farmers. His father became Director of the École nationale vétérinaire de Toulouse, Toulouse Veterinary School. An intern in 1921, doctor of medicine in 1925, associate of the faculty of medicine in 1930. He taught general pathology and experimental medicine at the University of Toulouse, Faculty of Toulouse until 1971. After completing a thesis in Oncology, experimental oncology, he turned his attention to endocrinology. Having carried out a number of experimental studies on diabetes, he was called upon from 1942 to 1946 to head the Regional Insulin Centre, which distributed the little insulin then available in the South-West counties. René Laennec
René-Théophile-Hyacinthe Laennec (; 17 February 1781 – 13 August 1826) was a French physician and musician. His skill at carving his own wooden flutes led him to invent the stethoscope in 1816, while working at the Hôpital Necker. He pioneered its use in diagnosing various chest conditions. He became a lecturer at the Collège de France in 1822 and professor of medicine in 1823. His final appointments were that of head of the medical clinic at the Hôpital de la Charité and professor at the Collège de France. He went into a coma and subsequently died of tuberculosis on August 13, 1826 at age 45. Early life Laennec was born in Quimper (Brittany). His mother died of tuberculosis when he was five years old, and he went to live with his great-uncle the Abbé Laennec (a priest). André Soubiran
André Soubiran (29 July 1910 – 29 July 1999) was a French physician and novelist. Soubiran studied medicine in Toulouse and later in Paris, obtaining his doctorate in 1935. At the beginning of World War II, he took part in the Battle of France, an experience he recounted in ''J'étais médecin avec les chars'' ("I was a doctor with the tanks") which earned him the Prix Renaudot in 1943. Soubiran's literary series ''Les hommes en blanc'' ("The men in white"), initially published from 1947 to 1958, was a commercial success, with the first two books selling more than 1.5 million copies. It was translated in English in 3 volumes: ''The Doctors'', ''The Healing Oath'' and ''Good-bye, Doctor Roch'', and was adapted into a film in 1955 ('' Men in White'', directed by Ralph Habib).
