Marc Jones (police Commissioner)
Marc Stuart Jones (born April 1972) is a British politician, and the current Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire, representing the Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party. He was 2016 England and Wales police and crime commissioner elections, elected to the post on 5 May 2016, succeeding the previous incumbent, Alan Hardwick. Following his election Jones chose Stuart Tweedale as his deputy, but Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Panel did not endorse the appointment. Jones announced on 8 June 2016 that he would appoint Tweedale to the post despite the Panel's opposition. Jones was re-elected in 2021 with a 57.9% majority - securing 102,813 of the 177,528 votes cast. The Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner is the police and crime commissioner, an elected official tasked with setting out the way crime is tackled by Lincolnshire Police in the English County of Lincolnshire. The post was created in November 2012, following an election held on 15 November 2012, and replaced the Lincolnshire Police Authority. Alan Hardwick
Alan Hardwick (born 1949) is a former journalist and television presenter. He was the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner from 2012 to 2016. Early life He is the son of a Derbyshire coal miner, living on Chesterfield Road in Staveley. He attended Netherthorpe Grammar School in the town. Broadcasting career Newspapers Alan Hardwick began his working life as an assistant in the men's clothing department of the Swallows department store (now gone) in Chesterfield. The news editor of the ''Derbyshire Times'' had his suits made in the store and another assistant, Vincent Cleary, arranged an interview for Alan at the newspaper. He became a junior reporter in 1965, One of the first stories he covered was the death of Horace Oakley, the Latin master at his old school and the man who first advised him to pursue journalism as a career. Grimsby or Great Grimsby is a port town and the administrative centre of North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, England. 2016 England And Wales Police And Crime Commissioner Elections
Elections of police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were held on 5 May 2016. The elections were for 40 of the 43 territorial police forces in England and Wales using the supplementary vote system; the two police forces of Greater London are not involved (the elected Mayor of London is classed as the police and crime commissioner for the Metropolitan Police District, while the Court of Common Council fulfils the role for the City of London Police). There was no election for the Greater Manchester Police as the role of police and crime commissioner was due to be abolished in 2017 and replaced with the directly elected Mayor of Greater Manchester. The ''Lincolnshire Echo'' is a weekly British regional newspaper for Lincolnshire, whose first edition was on Tuesday 31 January 1893, and is published every Thursday. It is owned by Reach PLC and it is distributed throughout the county. 2015 United Kingdom General Election
The 2015 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday, 7 May 2015 to elect 650 members to the House of Commons. It was the first and only general election held at the end of a Parliament under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011. Local elections took place in most areas on the same day.
