Maragatha Veenai (film)
''Maragatha Veenai'' () is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Gokula Krishnan, starring Suresh and Revathi. It was released on 14 March 1986. Plot Kokila (Revathi) is abandoned as a child and taken in by Carnatic musician (J. V. Somayajulu) who is impressed with her natural singing skills. He and his wife (Vadivukkarasi) raise her as their own. When her father falls ill, Kokila becomes the sole earner in her family and is forced to go to work. Kokila starts as the new music teacher at a school in a small village. Kannan (Suresh) is the drill master at the same school and is rude to Kokila from their first meeting. Their relationship deteriorates until an injury causes Kannan to repent and apologize for his behavior. The two soon fall in love and Kannan's mother approves of their marriage. Gokula Krishnan
Gokula Krishnan was an Indian film director, who has directed Tamil films. He was primarily active in the 1980s and early 1990s and is most noted for his work on films featuring actor Karthik. He also extensively worked with Malayalam director Fazil and other Malayalam directors, when they made Tamil films, helping write dialogues. Career Gokula Krishnan made his directorial debut in the early 1980s, before choosing to prioritise his work as a script-writer to Malayalam director Fazil, when he made Tamil films. In the mid 1990s, Gokula Krishnan made three consecutive films with actor Karthik. Vinu Chakravarthy (15 December 1945 – 27 April 2017) was an Indian actor, screenwriter and director who is known for acting in more than 1000 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Badaga and Malayalam mostly as a comedian, supporting actor or in a villainous role. Thyagaraja (Telugu: త్యాగరాజ) (4 May 1767 – 6 January 1847), also known as Thyāgayya and in full as Kakarla Thyagabrahmam, was a composer and vocalist of Carnatic music, a form of Indian classical music. Tyagaraja and his contemporaries, Shyama Shastri and Muthuswami Dikshitar, are regarded as the Trinity of Carnatic music. Thyagaraja composed thousands of devotional compositions, most in Telugu and in praise of Lord Rama, many of which remain popular today, the most popular being "Nagumomu". Pulavar Pulamaipithan (6 October 1935 – 8 September 2021) was an Indian scholar, poet and lyricist who got recognition through the song "Naan yaar nee yaar" which was featured in the Tamil film ''Kudiyirundha Koyil'' in 1968. He briefly served as the presidium chairman of AIADMK from 2002 to 2003, when he resigned citing ill-health. Biography Pulamaipithan was born in Irugur, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 6 October 1935. At the early age Pulavar used to work in textile mill known as Combodia mills in Coimbatore and also studied his Tamil literature in Tava Tiru Shanthalinga Adigalar Perur Tamil Kaluri Coimbatore. Vairamuthu Ramasamy (born 13 July 1953) is an Indian lyricist, poet, and novelist working in the Tamil film industry. He is a prominent figure in the Tamil literary world. A master's graduate from the Pachaiyappa's College in Chennai, he first worked as a translator, while also being a published poet. He entered the Tamil film industry in the year 1980, with the film ''Nizhalgal'', an Ilaiyaraaja musical, directed by Bharathiraja. During the course of his 40-year film career, he has written over 7,500 songs and poems which have won him seven National Awards, the most for any Indian lyricist. Tiruchirapalli Srinivasan Rangarajan, professionally credited by his pseudonym Vaali (born 29 October 1931 – 18 July 2013) was an Indian poet who is the highest songs wrote lyricist in cinema and whose works were in Tamil, had a five-decade long association with the Tamil film industry, wrote over 15,000 songs. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood. After a few years, Chattu Nair married Ammalu in an arranged marriage. Vasudevan was born on 15 June 1944 as their eighth and youngest child. A ''raga'' or ''raag'' (; also ''raaga'' or ''ragam''; ) is a melodic framework for improvisation in Indian classical music akin to a melodic mode.
