The Maple Hisoon or Haixun (海迅), also known as the SMA Huapu Hyun, is a compact sedan and hatchback produced by the Chinese automaker Shanghai Maple. The vehicle body was shared with the Fukang made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture despite being unlicensed, with body parts supplied by the suppliers that produces the Citroën Fukang. Overview The Maple Haixun hatchback was available from 2004 with three variants dubbed the Biaofeng (飙风) or Whirlwind, M203 and AA featuring different front end designs. The Biaofeng variant was launched in August 2003, and both the entry level Biaofeng variant and the sporty AA variant were offered for the 2004 and 2005 model years. Maple (Maple Automobile Co., Ltd.) (Chinese: 枫叶) is a Chinese automobile manufacturing company based in Fengjing, Shanghai, and a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. History Originally Shanghai Maple (SMA, Shanghai Maple Automobiles), the brand was established in 2000 producing Huapu (Maple) branded vehicles. Geely acquired a strategic holding in Shanghai Maple in 2002, and in 2008 Shanghai Maple was fully consolidated into Geely as their budget brand before phasing it out in 2010. The first Shanghai Maple vehicle was produced in the summer of 2003, based on the 1990s-era Citroen ZX. The Maple Marindo was displayed at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show. Citroën Fukang
The Citroën Fukang or Dongfeng Fukang is a series of compact vehicles available in a variety of body styles. It was the first in a range of cars produced for the Chinese market by the Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile group, a joint venture between the French PSA Peugeot Citroën and Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Corporation. Overview The first Fukang appeared in 1992 as a semi-knock down production, rebadged Citroën ZX hatchback. The car was called the Fukang DC7140 in China, the name translating as ‘Prosperity and Health’ in Chinese.
