Manuel Vázquez Gallego
Manuel Vázquez Gallego (1930 in Madrid – 1995 in Barcelona), was a Spanish cartoonist. He was one of the most important artists of Editorial Bruguera. His family were friends with comedians Wenceslao Fernández Flórez and Enrique Jardiel Poncela, who influenced Vázquez's humor. Vázquez started to publish in the 1940s in a new magazine. He started to publish in Editorial Bruguera in 1947. He created a lot of characters, for example: '' Las hermanas Gilda'' (The Gilda Sisters) (The adventures of two very different sisters), ''Anacleto, agente secreto'' (Anacleto, Secret Agent) (A surrealist parody of James Bond), '' La familia Cebolleta'' (The Scallion Family) or ''El tío Vázquez'' (Uncle Vázquez) (A self- parody) When Editorial Bruguera disappeared he also joined in adult magazines such as ''El Papus'' or ''Makoki'' with the alias Sappo. Francisco Ibáñez Talavera
Francisco Ibáñez Talavera, signing as just Ibáñez, (born 15 March 1936) is a Spanish comic book artist and writer. Biography Born in Barcelona, Ibáñez is the creator of several comic book series, the most famous of which is Mortadelo y Filemón. He worked in a bank while publishing his first drawings before dedicating himself fully to his craft in 1957. A year later, Mortadelo y Filemón appeared for the first time in the publication ''Pulgarcito''. Subsequently, Ibáñez created several other characters. Since 1988, he has drawn six new Mortadelo y Filemón albums a year, many of which incorporate issues of the day. In 1994, he received the Grand Prize of the ''Salón del Cómic de Barcelona'' and in 2001 he was awarded with the ''Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes'' ("Gold Medal for Contributions to the Fine Arts"). Santiago Segura
Santiago Segura Silva (born 17 July 1965) is a Spanish filmmaker and actor. He also worked to a lesser extent as a television presenter, voice actor and comic book writer, as well as being a collector of original comic books. At 12, he began making films with a Super-8 camera, and, after a recommendation from Fernando Trueba, began to make films in 35 mm, funded by his appearances in TV game shows. He earned early recognition for his performance as a metalhead in 1995 film ''The Day of the Beast'' (billed as a "satanic comedy"), which won him the Goya Award for Best New Actor. Great success would come with his directorial feature debut, 1998 dark action comedy and box-office hit ''Torrente, the Dumb Arm of the Law'', in which he stars as José Luis Torrente, a racist, homophobic, xenophobic, and fascist former police cop. Oscar or Oskar is a masculine given name of Irish origin. Etymology The name is derived from two elements in Irish: the first, ''os'', means "deer"; the second element, ''car'', means "loving" or "friend", thus "deer-loving one" or "friend of deer". ''13, Rue del Percebe'' (13, Barnacle Street) is a Spanish comic book created by Francisco Ibáñez that debuted in the pages of ''Tío Vivo'' magazine on March 6, 1961, and quickly became highly popular. The last strip was published in 1984. ''13, Rue del Percebe'' is a single panel that takes up the whole page that represents a humorous view of a building and the people who inhabit it. Each apartment is a panel in itself, with fixed characters with defined personalities.
